The “Vetting” of Newt Gingrich – From Pelosi to Axelrod to a a Few Select Peers to The Media – Fear Drives The Ridiculous Into Action

The Targets: Gingrich, Pual and Romney - image allvoices.com

Of all the GOP Presidential Candidates, Newt Gingrich has one of, if not the most, public record available. For that matter, his public record exceeds that of the current occupant of the White House, President Barack Obama, and other GOP front runners has risen to the top, they were also picked apart, accused, assessed by the opposition, only to be dismissed (or put on hold) by those who are watching the debate process. If credit were to be given to the press and those pundits who can’t pick a fish out of a barrel of one, then the entire process would have been wrapped up long ago – but the nominating process is a slow one, and rightly so, it gives times for those interested in the candidates who may be President of these United States, the opportunity to either succeed to fail, according to what they do in their public appearances, generally the debate arena.

Herman Cain, who now is allegedly a “footnote”, which the media would have one believe was due to the many “women” who came forward to accuse the man of everything from sexual misconduct to assault, to a thirteen year affair, has suspended his campaign, yet will continue to be involved in the process – one need only go to the http://thecainsolutions.com to understand that Herman Cain intends to remain a force in national politics. There is, of course, Mitt Romney, the one who is preferred by the Beltway, political class, and, as a moderate, the one who is least likely to achieve his goal – if the polls are any indication (and at this stage, they tend to be the winnowing of the wheat from the chaff, Romney will see a repeat of the 2008 primary process. There is Dr. Ron Paul, who is rising above Romney is Iowa now, a staunch Libertarian, running on the Republican ticket, who has the financial credentials, as well as time spent in the Legislator and the ability to appeal to the youth and more over, a wide spectrum of the political process. If anyone had predicted that going into the home stretch of the beginning of the primary process that the two candidates to rise to the top would be former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and Dr. Ron Paul, the Libertarian from Texas, would be at the top of the “heap”, they would have been summarily dismissed.

Why? It was a 24/7 Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin show on the media, beginning with appearances in late 2010 (immediately following the mid-terms) on late night talk shows (Letterman and Leno) and the daytime crew (The View) – it was expected, or implied more to the point, that one or the other would be at the top, and stay there. However, time and the ups and downs of politics, with a little help from the left and those who would see a different candidate in place, resulted in a front-runner that is a bigger thorn in the side of the DNC than any candidate in decades. The idea man, the guy on the bench in Congress who, while writing a ton of legislation and getting his legislation passed, also became a back-bench whip, insuring that GOP congressional leadership, at the time, got the votes they needed. The man rose to the position of the Speaker of the House, worked with one of the most moderate of modern Democrat President (William Jefferson Clinton), and together, they balanced the budget, and pushed through health care reform. During his entire tenure, he continued to write legislation, some which passed, and some which never made it out of committee. He was, and continues to be a man of ideas, as well as a man who puts those ideas into action – all of this information is available in the Congressional Record, which is online, and involved a bit of research on the part of anyone who really wants to know what their Congressperson, or Senator has accomplished. It was during Newt Gingrich’s rise as the Speaker, that the problems began, those problems are known as opposition ethics charges. Charges that are based on theory, rumor, and some facts, and are played out in “secret committees” (according to Nancy Pelosi), and the subject is generally censored if found guilty of say fifteen or so charges of income tax evasion (See Charles Rangel, Barney Frank, or any number of high profile Democrats that committed crimes, and then were “chastised” by a group of their peers.) The process for the truly guilty is to stand in the well of the Congress and say “I’m sorry” to the members of Congress – all is then forgiven and life goes on as normal. Problematically, when Newt Gingrich was being “investigated by Nancy Pelosi (say that carefully and then think about it carefully), he did what most Republican members of the Congress or Senate had been known to do – resign. Although Gingrich was cleared of every charge but one (something to do with forgetting to sign a Congressional document – that is not a joke). Therefore, as far as records go, the man came up with great ideas for the country, implemented a good percentage of those ideas through legislation he wrote, and then rose to the Speakership and worked across the aisle, and he also bullied those in the GOP who were not overly happy with that situation (Those you can find on talk shows noting Newt Gingrich’s lack of leadership skills – in other words, someone who refuses to tow the party line, and “just say no” rather than get something done.

However, one did not get the impression that Newt was pure as the driven snow, he was of an age, and he was in Washington, and let’s face it, from a women’s perspective, he’s a man – all of which leads to some moral and or ethical issues that, in the world of Democrats would lead to impeachment, and a bump in the polls, but which is now considered, unforgivable by the same – go figure. People make mistakes, people change their mind – over a period of two decades, Gingrich came to a new place, with the same intellect and the same political drive, minus the ethics and moral issues not generally associated with the GOP – which is considered to be made of rapid right wing Christian’s who carry bibles in one hand and guns in the other. In reality –however, that is hardly the case, those who are Christian, look at the mettle of the man or woman, and if decades have passed, forgive and move on.

The GOP has taken a different mold, their members are varied, from young and old libertarians, to former Democrats, to the hard –right, it’s a mixed bag – and that is driving the Progressive Democrats to distraction.

Enter Nancy Pelosi, former Speaker of the House, and Mistress of the Closet of Skeletons, who was reported as saying: Hill.com (blog from the Nation’s Capital)

One of these days we’ll have a conversation about Newt Gingrich,” Pelosi told Talking Points Memo. “When the time is right. … I know a lot about him. I served on the investigative committee that investigated him, four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year. A thousand pages of his stuff."

Thousands of pages of distraction is more like it, with baseless nonsense designed to embarrass and stymie and stop the forward march of then Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich – the aforementioned charges that were dropped, except for that horrid neglect to sign a “document” charge. Three words for Miss Pelosi: “Freedom of Information”. If Pelosi had anything on Mr. Gingrich, she would have been spouting it from the rooftops, however, she appears to have nothing more than innuendo – and why?
Newt has risen 20 points in the polls and he is four weeks out from Iowa, and in a statistical tie with Obama.
Plus, face it, Nancy likes the press, the limelight and she says the darndest things- all taken with a grain of salt.
The “Old Newt” as a Republican would have hidden under a rock and exited the race in shame”, (theoretically mind you), however now - not so much.

The very same Blog of the Beltway (Can that really be a good thing?): offered Newt’s response: in true Gingrich style:

Newt Gingrich said that a threat from ex-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to disclose information she learned while serving on an ethics committee investigating him during his time as Speaker of the House would "totally abuse the ethics process" and violate rules of the House of Representatives.
"I want to thank Speaker Pelosi for what I regard as an early Christmas gift," Gingrich said at a press conference in Manhattan Monday.

If Newt were able to publicly humiliate Nancy Pelosi, (and even an attempt may count), he would be a national hero and one could just skip the primary. Outside of Washington, the media, and per made for Nancy District #8 (only San Francisco – they broke up the 8th district, taking the more conservative San Mateo County out, in order to allow Nancy to have her own Kingdome that would actually elect her – the 8th District of California includes only one city - San Francisco) Frankly, the only way to get rid of Nancy is for someone who is a more ridiculous a figure , to challenge her in a primary and win, otherwise, she will be the Robert Byrd of California’s 8th. – We’re stuck with Nancy – safe in her made for lunacy 8th District – for now. That would be a Christmas Present, Mr. Speaker, for the entire country.

David Axelrod, chief engineer of “How to Elect Barack Obama” an obscure state senator with zero experience to the office of the presidency, while basing every move on an even more Obscure figure, the Governor of Massachusetts as a model (Yes – we can (do what?!) – is now chatting on about Newt Gingrich. Axelrod, a Chicago Political Consultant, is on talk shows (usually MSNBC or somewhere on a blog) has now, according to “Polticifact” coined a phrase for Gingrich: “The Godfather of Gridlock”. Interesting in that the phrase has little to do with the amount of legislation Gingrich managed to get passed in his lengthily tenure in the House, but none-the-less, a sign that Gingrich is now the guy that worries the Obama Campaign more than any other. Axelrod is the Obama Campaign, and if he’s looking for a “Yes we can” slogan for his “masses”, that will fire up the base against Candidate for President Newt Gingrich – “The Godfather of Gridlock” is snappy, but easily dismissed as ridiculous. Is Axelrod losing his touch – or did he run out of really pithy slogans like “yes, we can”.

Finally, the media has joined with Axelrod and Nancy to do its due diligence to keep any Republican out of the White House, and therefore, are picking up on anything Gingrich has to say (and that man has to say a lot, as he has a lot of suggestions to make, probably more that one can imagine, as there are more things just wrong enough with this country, that could be so easily made right, with a bit of tweaking, a la Newt, that in his multiple books, appearance and now on the campaign trail, sound bites a plenty appear on an almost second by second basis.

Over at CBS the media has taken some umbrage at the fact that Gingrich, in a debate, suggested that youth be taught the value of working for a dollar, to build a sense of accomplishment, and teach youngsters how to get a job, keep a job, and save some cash in the process, thereby becoming, eventually, upstanding citizens, rather than gang members about to shoot at the White House. The key words here are “youth” and “work”. This somehow translates into “horror of horrors – breaking the “child labor laws”. Under the current systems, millions and millions of today’s youth cannot work until they are sixteen (and must obtain a permit) (Massachusetts state law). If they want to be newspapers carriers (that time tested, 50’s model of earning a few bucks), their parents must take on the job, and be hopeful they don’t’ get caught letting their kids deliver the Sunday paper. The Child Labor Laws were originally designed to avoid putting an under aged youth into a factory setting that involved twelve hour shifts, and since has morphed into the ridiculous – which may account for the high rate of unemployment among today’s youngsters, who may even want to work. His plan which involved pretty much the paper route, and or community service route, for these youngsters, especially in inner cities, to earn and appreciate the value of a dollar, to have some self-respect, and to become more vested in their futures, is a bad thing? This coming from one who as a child, picked beans for 25 cents a bushel in a farm down the road, moved to the paper route, as soon as one was available, and at the age of sixteen, was working in retail looking forward to saving enough money to go to college and of course, buy a car. Then Jimmy Carter came along and blew that up. But, this adult now has no fear of work, and understands the value of a dollar, and as soon as able, pushed her sixteen year old (the age of the “work permit”) into finding a job, keeping the job, keeping up her grades, and learning to manage her finance. When that child saw her first paycheck, one has to wonder who was most proud, the child or the parent?

This is one of Newt Gingrich’s ideas, one which has been summarily dismissed by the lot of idiots who are currently in charge of the way we are supposed to think and our government. Is it any wonder that he is being attacked form the left and the left in order to stop him from going back to Washington, as a President who might work with the speaker (regardless of the party in power), and the Senate (again the same), and who might actually get the nation on the right track economically and get a few kids off the street at the same time?
It makes sense, so it must be dangerous to Axelrod and Company, because if the moderate voter thinks Gingrich is ok, then there is trouble in Chicago.

Should, and as those who follow politics know, another candidate take the lead in these last weeks before the primary/caucus begins (say Ron Paul, who is next in line by the polls), then what can those in Chicago and San Francisco, due to the Good Doctor? Stay tuned. The problem that Team Obama has is that every one of the candidates, including Herman Cain, are perceived as being able to do a better job at managing the affairs of the country – specifically by the GOP and those who vote in those primaries, and those who vote in those primaries are, sometimes moderate Conservative Feminist, former Democrats, newly minted Republicans, all with the notion that there just has to be a better alternative. It will not be an easy race, by any means, the race to the GOP nomination and the race to the White House, but a race that is clearly competitive on the side of the GOP and the eventual nominee, be it Gingrich or Ron Paul or Jon Huntsman or Michele Bachmann’s to win.

2012 GOP Update: Newt Gingrich At the Top of the Charts – Latest Poll: Gingrich, Cain, Romney

The brilliant and affiable New Gingrich Tops the GOP Charts - image Letsgetrealblog

From Public Policy Polling: (PDF), latest national poll consisting of 576 Republican Primary Voters (4% very liberal, 3% somewhat liberal, 18% moderate, 39% somewhat conservative and 36% conservative, shows New Gingrich in the lead with 28%, Cain at 25%, and Romney at 18%. The balance of the field in this poll in order of %: Perry (6%), Bachmann, Paul (tied 5%), Huntsman (3%), Johnson and Santorum (tied 1%) and not yet sure rounding out the field at 9%.

A good majority of the questions focused on the fact that Cain has been accused of sexual harassment; the results, a majority believe the allegations are false, and that Cain should stay in the race. Newt Gingrich, who has made what, is touted in the accompanying article by Public Policy Polling, a remarkable gain in a short period. While Romney remains stagnant and/or in this case has lost poll numbers. Perry, despite a solid performance in the last debate, ended up losing % points in this PPP poll.

Although in this point in the game, with approximately 8 weeks before the Iowa Caucus, the polls show a candidates strength (advancing or maintaining % in the polls) or their weaknesses (losing points, or under double digits). That said, this is a very fluid field where a candidate all but given up for “politically dead”, is able to rise to the occasion, by a win in Iowa, or South Carolina, propelling that candidate forward through the South and Midwest come Super Tuesday. From this perspective of the current field, at this time and with this poll, the outcome would be either Gingrich/Cain at the top come Super Tuesday. This is probable should the polling remain the same in regards to the allegations against Cain (plus positive for Cain).

With Newt Gingrich on the top of the polls, one can expect a media assault to begin on the former Speaker, any second. This will be the most highly vetted GOP field in history, given the media’s penchant for the current President, and an obvious distaste for any GOP Candidate (see CNN Reporter asking Obama if the GOP candidates are uninformed, out of touch or just irresponsible (Real Clear Politics video).

Depending upon which side of the political aisle one sits, there is good and bad news - trust in the media (both print and broadcast) is at an all time low according to a recent Gallup “Trust in Institutions” poll, with only 25% trusting Newspapers or TV News.

2012 GOP Update: McClatchy Marist Polling: Obama One Term, Palin, Unannounced Gains 20 Points, In Statistical Tie With Obama - Analysis

Palin in Statistical Tie with Obama - Madame President? Image NY Daily News

Although the cross-tabs are not yet available for the latest poll from McClatchy-Marist, one of the least conservative of pollsters, the chances for President Obama to be re-elected in 2012 are growing dimmer by the day. In the initial release by McClatchy Entitled: “Poll Obama Expected to Lose But Still Tops Any Republican One on One” is somewhat disingenuous when one factors in the margin of error at 5.5%. What is leading headlines yesterday and today is the following from McClatchy :

“The biggest gain came for Palin, the former Alaska governor who hasn't yet announced whether she'll jump into the fast-changing race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
After trailing Obama by more than 20 percentage points in polls all year, the new national survey, taken Sept. 13-14, found her trailing the president by just 5 points, 49-44 percent. The key reason: She now leads Obama among independents, a sharp turnaround.”

Additionally this poll found that both Palin and Giuliani jump to the top tier if they are factored in the poll, with Giuliani showing the highest score against Obama. Currently, Perry, Romney and Bachmann lead with Republicans. Which begs the question – which demographic was used to calculate the overall approval among Republicans and Republican leaning independents in this poll? A Fox News Poll which was taken last month showed Palin losing in a Republican primary, and Giuliani topping all contenders, however, that poll included Democrats in the equation, the demographic which outweighed the Republican sample by a significant margin. When one took the % of Democrats out of the sample, the statistics changed dramatically, giving Palin the lead. One must wait until McClatchy Marist releases the cross tabs to truly parse this poll.

This is where the Republican’s stand in this poll against the President:
Giuliani beats Obama by 49 to 42, Romney is behind by 46 to 44, Perry behind by 50 to 41, Bachmann by 53 to 40 and Palin by 49 to 44*, which, should either Palin or Giuliani enter the race at any time between now and November of 2012, they would be in a position to start from a top tier position. What is interesting the poll also states that both Giuliani and Palin do not fare well with Republicans, similar to the Fox poll which used the same language in the release, yet again, in the cross tabs, included Democrats in the sample.

Additionally out of 1042 samples, 825 are registered voters, those two samples were combined, out of the 825 registered voters, 317 of those surveyed were Republican or Republican leaning Independents the balance, one might suggest were 508 Democrats and Democrat Leaning Independents or a 38% more Democrats and Democrat leaning Independents than Republicans’ which is hardly representative of voter registration nationwide. Moreover, if the poll is slightly skewed demographically by question, what is obvious is that among Democrats, Obama is losing significant ground, and in addition, those Democrats and Democrat Leaning Independents, along with Independents in general (where Palin leads Obama) one would suggest in a national match-up, Palin and Giuliani would be the most obvious choices to win the General.

However, lost in the polling, is the suggestion that Republican’s and those leading Independents, who happen to prefer Palin and Giuliani not enter the race, followed by both of the aforementioned either trouncing or within the margin of error, when it comes to a general election.

Polls at this point, of course, and the candidates mentioned are hardly an indicator of who might win the Republican nomination in the long run. Pundits now theorize that Republican’s will vote for the candidate they feel will have the strongest ability to beat the Incumbent. In addition, one must look at the primary ground game in three key states (which this year, may be a moot point) Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina have traditionally been the bellwether as to who will eventually win the nomination. However, (current polls aside) should Palin enter the race, and take Iowa, with Romney taking New Hampshire, it will go to South Carolina, where, either Perry or Palin could end up gaining ground, should Perry win in the Carolina’s, it would setup a Super Tuesday scenario where the candidate that is best positioned to pull ahead, and has the best grassroots organization to begin with, would be considered the front runner, and if those states are split, it would continue to the next Month and so on, until a clear leader were established.

If one looks at the 2008 presidential race, Romney was out of the race by Super Tuesday, leaving McCain in the lead, and Huckabee, holding on for several months in order to a) give the voters a chance, and b) keep the Republican brand in the “news”.

The next debate will be a Fox debate held tomorrow night, September 22nd, 2011, and it is doubtful that out of the nine candidates running, a “thinning of the herd” will take place. At most, one would think the current field (plus one or two) may hang in until well into November. The press and even those who wish that a certain not yet announced candidates who are, apparently, able to clean Obama’s clock in a national election, would do so sooner than later, can afford to wait.

From this blogs perspective, the “non-candidate” in this poll most likely to run would be Palin, whose announcement into the race would bring to bear a massive grassroots organization, that might be difficult for other candidates to amass, specifically those in the current top tier. In addition, unlike the Romney/McCain/Huckabee contest in 2008, Huckabee came out of Iowa like a freight train, and then lagged in fundraising and organization; however, it was his grassroots support that was pivotal in keep the former Arkansas Governor in the race to the bitter end. Palin, unlike Huckabee, is not shy about fundraising, which would change the dynamics of the 2012 race, especially against Mitt Romney, who does well among Independents (note: surprisingly to McClatchy Marist and most likely the Republican Establishment) so does Palin.

*Obama leads Romney by 46 to 44, and Palin by 49 to 44 in this poll: Therefore in the Romney Obama match up: 10% are undecided, while in the Palin match-up, 7% are undecided, the undecided’s are generally leaning independents. Therefore, without the crosstabs yet available, one cannot know which candidate does the best among independents in this poll. However, with a remarkable gain of 20 points in a short period of time, especially in McClatchy poll, one can suggest that the candidate yet to announce is the candidate to watch in future polling. It is fitting then, to finish with a “Palinism” (believe that was coined by the New York Times) “Polls are for strippers and Cross Country Skiers”. However, they sure make life interesting, and can be predictive, especially internal polls.

GOP 2012 Update: Perry enters Race Takes Lead in Polls, Criticisms Heat up on Perry’s form of Dress, Diction and Straight Texas Talk

For all the brouhaha from MSNBC over Perry's Hat, one finds few photos, if any of Rick Perry near a hat! (unless being worn by someone behind him - that said, he would at the very least appear authentic in a cowboy hat - image mtv.com.com

Texas Governor, Rick Perry, entered the GOP race for the Presidential nomination this past weekend, and is now leading the field by 10 points in a new Rasmussen poll, Rasmussen poll. In addition, the critique on Perry from the media has been ramped up a bit:
From Chris “My legs are tingling for Obama” Matthews comes this gem:

"He looks like a clown," Matthews said. "He dresses very fancy. There's something about the way that he puts himself together that doesn't look authentic. He looks like, I don't know, a wax figure pretending to be governor. There's something about him that doesn't add up to me. Maybe it's this Texas B.S., this boots and tuxedo thing they do down there. Why does it work? Outside of Texas it doesn't travel very well."

Apparently, Chris Matthews might think Obama is the "height of fashion" in this attempt at fitting in - while visiting Texas - of course, not terribly authentic, now is he? image:rickperryme.com

Apparently Matthews has never travelled to Texas, or for that matter, out of the studio – it is Texas, Big Texas, Big Hats, Big Boots – Matthew should at least try Nashville first, where they do wear cowboy boots, and there’s country music and all – to at least dim the culture shock of leaving the studio prior to going onto Texas.

Of course, not to be outdone, the AP now has a charming way of insinuating that those that live outside of the bubble that is the east coast elite (and those that consider themselves elite elsewhere – headlines ”Perry's colorful tongue takes the national stage”. Apparently, authentic local colloquialisms do not belong in politics – to whit – you sound funny, you talk funny, you have “Perryisms”, why, even the President is being magnanimous.

Obama said Tuesday he was inclined to cut the governor "some slack" since it was so early in his run. The president was asked on CNN about Perry's suggestion that military members would respect the Texan more than him because Perry served in the military and he didn't.
"I think that everybody who runs for president, it probably takes them a little bit of time before they start realizing that this isn't like running for governor or running for Senate or running for Congress," Obama said. "You've got to be a little more careful about what you say." AP Source

This from a man who held one term as a community organizer, one term in the Illinois Legislature and half a term in the U.S. Senate – seriously – The President uses “Chicago Gang” colloquialisms when on the stump, what scares the U.S. Public more? A straight talking and shooting (see coyote/dog) Texan or a smooth talking hipsters that will bring a gun to a knife fight?

Not to be outdone by the President, the RNC inner circle is in a tizzy:

"Inappropriate and unpresidential," tweeted Tony Fratto, a Republican who worked at the Treasury Department and in the White House under President George W. Bush.
That was his quick verdict after Perry said at a campaign appearance Monday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke would be committing a "treasonous" act if he decided to "print more money to boost the economy." Perry said such action by the Fed would amount to a political maneuver aimed at helping President Barack Obama win re-election.
(What Perry Said:)
"If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I don't know what y'all would do to him in Iowa, but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas," Perry said, responding to a question from the audience.AP Source

This refers to the print of money by the Feds, a bad plan in some economists as well as a growing percentage of the American Public, who votes, and has a say in all of this (witness the 2010 election where historic gains were made in the Congress by “Republicans” of Tea Party Philosophy – many an incumbent Republican and Democrat were replaced by those rabble rousers. To which many in the nation were quite pleased. The other note to those who are clueless (Press, RNC, DNC) "Treat Pretty Ugly"in Texas is not a threat, it's a fact, it's like being shunned, or laughed at, or basically voted out of office, or confronted with strong verbal scoldings) Where's the disconnect? Look to the East!!

Therefore, Rick Perry stands up, and doesn’t back down, he’s not from Massachusetts, or New York or Washington, he’s from Texas. He speaks like a Texan, he dresses like a Texan, and he loves this nation like a Texan.

How long will it take the Photoshop maniacs over at Newsweek to slam Perry on a cover in looking like a Texan? (But with their usual creative twist) See other’s who have scared the left and the mainstream media and the Republican hierarchy: Palin and Bachmann come immediately to mind.

What’s wrong with Rick Perry – He’s authentic – that’s cause for concern in a political landscape where authentic is not the norm – illusion is all that counts, and business as usual, should stay that way – Not this time: Perry, Palin, Bachmann are not the usual suspects, (Although Palin has yet to announce her “intentions” – she has the time of Ronald Reagan on her side). The national debate should be a focus on who is most qualified to lead the nation. It is about leadership and frankly, if a tough talking, gun tooting Texan, a former Governor of the State of Alaska, that upended the Republican Party, the Democrats and Big Oil, in favor of her States Constitution, or a Tax Attorney, Congresswoman from Minnesota, who had stood firm in her conviction not to raise the debt ceiling, are on the ticket for the GOP, one might be surprised at how much the resonate with the individual – not Washington, or Debbie Wasserman Shultz harping on about whatever, on the local Sunday Talk Shows.

Fact of the matter is, one of those aforementioned will be the next President; none of them are out of the question, it is that the American voting public has had it with “the usual” and are looking for leadership in the form of someone who embodies the American Spirit of can do, must do, and must do it on your own, especially when that candidate has done exactly that.

Of course, this is one opinion, but when the President is holding steady at 39%, taking a bus tour in a glorified and armored greyhound bus into Iowa to tell the folks that he’ll have plan in September to fix the economy, it comes off more than a little disingenuous and somewhat insulting to the public who has heard the same line time and again. I addition, he’s lost his swagger, his sense of humor and appears to know he’s in over his head, with no way out, but for the gift of a general election – and that Tea Party that is much maligned and feared by the media, the elite and those sitting at the RNC headquarters in Washington, will be the ones to help make it happen. Those darn terrorist mothers, fathers, grandfathers, grandmothers, teens, working men and women who pay too much in taxes (combined federal and state) and support those yahoos in office (along with the fifty percent of the nation that does not pay taxes), those who prefer to follow the constitution, democrats, republicans and independents all, and they prefer that their politicians are straight talking, shoot from the hip, men and women. The hue and cry about evangelicals, tea party support, and well, just about anything the left thinks will scare the average Joe and Jane from the morning news to the eleven o’clock even news (running snippets on national news), with the catchphrases: Tea Party Candidate, Evangelical Right Wing Christian (emphasis on Christian), are only doing those candidates a favor. Those just happen to be the qualities that the American Public is seeking now, after having tried Carter II (or as some pundits who had worked in the Carter administration have noted – their worst nightmare since Carter (Pat Caddell) (paraphrased).

Obama Approval Below 40% - Heads to the Heartland – GOP’s Perry, Bachmann on the Move – GOP Candidates Don’t Forsake Massachusetts!!

Perry and Bachamnn - image Newsmax

From The Los Angeles Times, President Obama’s approval ratings have gone to a new low, according to Gallup Polling, at 39% approval, an approval rating somewhat reminiscent of the ratings Carter enjoyed as he began to campaign for his reelection in late 1979. Suddenly, Obama will head to the Heartland in a three state tour, the message based on economics, and the end result of the trip touted as not ‘political’ by the White House. (LA Times). That said, last evenings CBS 11 pm local broadcast of the national news, indicated that the trip was indeed political, given the attention paid to the GOP candidates in Iowa and elsewhere this weekend, one of which will ultimately force him into early presidential retirement. The trip is, according to UPI, funded by the taxpayers, and the President will speak in small venues, with the largest hamlet, with a population of 8,000. Immediacy following this exhausting three day schedule, Obama will be heading towards Martha’s Vineyard for a vacation with his family. Last year the most popular t-shirt on the Vineyard was “Miss Me Yet? With George Bush as the focus, this year, there appears to be no new designs on this island playground of the rich and famous – perhaps it’s the economy?

In contrast, both GOP Newcomer, Governor Rick Perry of Texas, and Michelle Bachmann, Congresswoman and small business owner, were at the same event in Iowa where the tone was polite to one another and no-hold-barred regarding the polities of the Obama administration. Bachmann, coming off her win at the Aims Iowa Straw Poll, shared the stage with Govenor Perry, who announced his intent to run, prior to the start of the polling. He managed to edge out the Wall Street Journal’s front runner, Mitt Romney, and with Bachmann’s win, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty decided to call it quits.

It is interesting that the newscasts from all major networks after the entrance of Perry and the win of Bachmann in the Straw Poll, reference them as “Tea Party”, in accord with Democrat talking head, Debbie Schultz, who weighed in with the fact that all candidates in the GOP were attempting to be like the Tea-Party, and that they were like “Lego’s” (a popular child’s toy). Shultz has her work cut out for her, as the head of the DNC, turning the Tea Party into a villain may be the wrong strategy, but running on Obama’s record, being out of the question at this point, Shultz has little left. One has to wonder, just what did this Florida Congressional Representative do that got her this particular position? Understandably – being the Head Cheerleader for a team going down to the finals in flames is not the most desirable position to hold. It does beg that question.

Therefore, a look at what’s on Press for newcomer, Rick Perry (readers are most aware of what is being said about Michelle Bachmann, a press that despises conservative women more than anything else given the fact that NOW felt compelled to call out Newsweek, on their coverage of Bachmann as being Sexist!) is in order:

From ABC News blog, the note that Rick Perry’s wife told him to enter the race, and do his duty to the country, apparently given the tone of the speech, at the Red State conference, (shown below for reference), the fact that it was a speech that, although red meat for conservatives, was resounding with Independents as well as New York Democrats, and that leaves them little to say about Perry in the race. Next up: Perry’s and Bachmann’s evangelical base – (wait; there are a few hundred stories on that racing to print). There is nothing more frightening to hard core Progressives that the “religious right”, of course, the “Tea Party” is a strong second.

In New Hampshire, Governor Perry appeared to do quite well for his first foray into the granite state (with exception of national media report, therefore one should look to the New Hampshire Union Leader for what most likely occurred: Perry appeared to come across quite well on this, his first excursion into New Hampshire More than a few Massachusetts residents are waiting for his next trip to the Granite State in order to directly volunteer.

No Coincidence, to this point of view Sarah Palin, who will most likely announce her GOP (or Tea Party?) run for the Presidency, at a Tea Party even in Iowa, took a weekend road trip to the following states, by bus, (look for the similarities here), first to Iowa, then to Illinois, and could she possibly be headed to Minnesota? Is Obama stalking Sarah Palin? Considering the ridiculous claims from the left (including the White House and talking head for the DNA, Muppet Wasserman) it is not such an outrageous assumption.

Currently the Wall Street Journal online poll asks: To you think Palin should run (paraphrasing), and the answer, so far is “yes”, by a 51.5 to 48.5. . One has to understand this is the “Mitt Romney” paper of choice, however, as it is now, Palin would bring much to the conversation on the national stage, and she adds one more “Tea Party” “Lego Candidate” to Debbie Wasserman Shultz’s new battle cry. (Lest she be forced to contrast one of these candidates with the Presidents performance).

As first a feminist and a conservative feminist, there would be nothing more exciting that to see two qualified and outstanding women, compete for the GOP Nomination, which would be an historical first, and incidentally will also give fits to Traditional News Outlets as well as Democrats and Republican’s in Washington – what more could anyone ask for?

Note: Below is Rick Perry’s Speech at Red State, worth a listen. Secondly, the “Undefeated” video goes on sale and pay-per-view in December, after viewing the film in a Theater in Plainville CT, one understands it supports two objectives: one, that Sarah Palin, a viable Candidate can and should be a successful candidate in 2012, and 2) do not trust the media when it goes after any candidate running against Obama. Although not implicit in the script or the movie language, with Palin as the focus, every GOP candidate, or Tea Party Candidate, or anyone running against a Progressive Democrat, would be best served to watch this film.

Final Note to all GOP or Tea Party Candidates: Do not, repeat, do not, for once, and leave the Commonwealth of Massachusetts off your schedule. Keep in mind that in 1980, the State of Massachusetts voted for Reagan, and is at the point, where the interest is high. In addition, (check for updates with the Mass GOP), the state is not a winner take all; a Candidate needs only 15% to put them on the ballot. Of course, the thought that there may only be 12% registered Republican’s sounds as if it may be a waste of time, however, consider that has a fairly large Tea Party presence. Suggest visiting (on the way to New Hampshire), Western Massachusetts/Worcester County and the Boston Area, there are volunteers enough for every candidate; the investment should be minimal (unless one wants to really stick it to Axelrod’s other favorite candidate, the Governor Deval Patrick. Several Birds, one stone.

Wow! Palin Paid $14,000 To Decorate A Bus! ABC News and Assorted Media in Frenzy!

The bus in question: A Bargain compared to one dinner for two at the White House - image ABC News Blogs

It isn’t even August (the approximate date given by Sarah Palin for an announcement vis a vis the 2012 GOP Presidential nomination), and yet, one would think that as she has yet to announce, there would be a little less focus on the woman the media loathes to the point of obsession. Case in point, as the FEC candidate, party and PAC filings are available online to one and all: ABC News (blog) has it’s pantyhose in a knot over the fact that Palin's PAC (not Palin herself) paid “almost $14000 to decorate her tour bus”!

Apparently those over at NBC, although working in media, have no clear idea of what it might cost to say, “wrap a bus”, or even “buy commercial air time”. Consider when one “wraps a bus” one must pay for the graphic artist (designer), the production (placing graphics on wrap), the wrap itself and the installation!

Palin appears to have managed to get a bargain.

Go figure, she is, after all, a fiscal conservative.

Simply because, although unannounced, the media is treating Sarah Palin as a direct rival (or threat if you will) to the President (Barack Obama), it is surprising that they did not compare his about to be cancelled: $36,000 per couple birthday dinner he is throwing at the White House! on yes, your guessed it, the taxpayers dime. Therefore, if one is going to compare, Governor Palin’s bus wrap at $14,000 would last at a minimum of 24 months, with perhaps a need for a touch up now and again, while the Presidents Birthday, for one couple alone, at approximately twice the cost will last a fleeting few hours.

It is precisely this type of insanity from the media that has more than a few American’s looking at who would be the best choice for president (assuming that Barack Obama will not make a second term and will be defeated in 2012) - As no serious challenge has come from the left, one can also assume that Obama will be the candidate, this leaves the general public with several GOP alternatives from which to choose – In today’s economic climate, which is not, by the way, improving any, debt ceiling or no, (yet another crisis), more moderates (from all parties) are taking a hard look at the women who would be President, rather than the men – simply because they walk the walk and talk the talk when it comes to spending wisely and cutting costs when it is possible. This may explain Michelle Bachmann’s meteoric rise in the polls against Tax or Fee former Governor’s Tim and Mitt, as well Bachmann’s ability to answer a question, and stand by her convictions, even if it is not the popular stance in Washington or the media (see: Debt Ceiling). Should Palin enter (and it is a likelihood despite the pundits nay saying - which is more like praying) the race, she would, possibly be neck and neck with the Congresswoman, and honestly trump her given her gubernatorial experience, and name recognition.

The hysteria will be such in newsrooms, editorial boards and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and the resultant broadcasts or printed word will reflect the aforementioned – when Sarah Palin announces, that it would appear to even the most average of American’s (from an elite perspective), that all of the aforementioned have clearly lost their minds. (Finally the non-compliant light bulb appears).

The question keeps being asked and answered: Can Sarah Palin win the Presidency (or Michelle Bachmann) and there are more nay’s, she’s not running (Palin) than any yeas. Here’s the slogan for those who feel the need to have something silly to say in order to affirm a choice: (speaking clearly about those moderate Democrats) “Yes, she Can!!”
(Borrowed from Deval Patrick and Barack Obama who borrowed it from Deval Patrick (Governor of Massachusetts) Easy to Say, Affirms A Choice, Simple to Memorize, and somehow Meaningless at the same time when applied to anything other than a woman winning the White House.)

A Side Note: Both Sarah Palin (unannounced) and Michelle Bachmann (announced) are seeing an increase of attacks from blogs and the media, which will continue unabated (one can assume) through the primary season. Of course, since the primary is for Conservatives and Unenrolled (or Independents) and those Democrats who have lost complete faith in Obama and are considered moderate, no matter what “bombshell” comes from the media, it is fairly apparent that they will make a decision based upon substance, rather than hysteria, and not take the advice of a media who is obviously hostile to the concept of conservatism in any respect.

To reiterate: $14,000 bus wrap that will last over a year, or $36,000 dinner that will last, at most, several hours.

It will not be the social issues, it will be the spending issues and the ever increasing unemployment (or the unemployment staying the same) and it will not matter if someone sat on a board as a Christian Counselor, or if someone misspoke about this historical date or no (Bachmann), it will depend upon whether or not the individual instills confidence, stands up for themselves without changing their tune fifty times in fifty debates/press conferences/or what-have-you, that the individual can relate to those who vote (rather than those who tell someone how to vote: see Hollywood and the media as well as your professor or high school teacher).

It is beyond time for leadership that has the stamina and self-confidence to make a decision based on fiscal sanity, and who better than a woman? One who would make the necessary cuts in the budget without throwing out the baby with the bathwater? One who is a warrior and a mother? Most importantly one who puts America first, ahead of party, and ahead of politics, as both of these women have shown they are more than capable of doing. Although this blogger is waiting for Sarah Palin, and has endorsed her wholeheartedly, both as a strong candidate (based upon past performance), and as someone who would stand up, not just to our media (most of which, when she is elected, will move to another country along with half of Hollywood (suggesting France), and spend weeks if not months in therapy), but to the nations that stand in direct opposition to American exceptionalism. She will stand not for one party or the other, but for the people.

2012 GOP Update: Michelle Bachmann Leads Mitt Romney in Latest Iowa Poll, Pawlenty Gains – The “Undefeated” – Waiting for Palin.

2012 - The Year of the Women? - image MSNBC

A poll of 500 likely Iowa caucus voters commissioned by theIowa Republicans, finds Michelle Bachman (R-MN) with a 4 point lead over former Massachusetts Govenor Mitt Romney in the latest survey. Bachmann leads Romney in Favorability by 10 points, with an 11% Unfavorabilty. Romney is at 21% with a 66% favorable, with Tim Pawlenty at 9% (a plus) with a 60% favorability. The margin of error is plus or minus 4%; therefore, this might be considered a statistical tie. Go to: the Iowa Republican to read the entire article.

From this perspective, it is still early in the political game, even in early caucus and primary states such as New Hampshire, Iowa, and South Carolina, (the three leading up to Super Tuesday). Should, for example, Sarah Palin, enter the race, those numbers may change dramatically, and for the first time in history, one might find two women leading the polls in one of the two largest national party general election process. Additionally, Governor Rick Perry, who has yet to announce, would change the dynamics, most likely affecting those who are currently in the field. Neither of the aforementioned are considered “dark horses” rather, they are most likely viewed as able to compete an already competitive field. One might suggest that the latest either one of these candidates would announce would be early October, 2011, however, that announcement must come with a pre-set grassroots organization and the wherewithal to run a blitzkrieg campaign in at least one of the three key states.

Palin is being aided by filmmaker Stephen K Bannon, with a documentary that debunks the myths regarding the lack of just above everything “Palin”. CBS News’, Jan Crawford, after viewing the documentary opined

"The Undefeated" goes a long way towards debunking that tired narrative. It shows an unbroken line in her thinking over the past two decades. The things she's saying on her bus tour about freedom, free markets, fiscal responsibility and the proper role of government are the same things she's been saying ever since she entered into politics.
It got me to thinking about the grossly unfair and inaccurate story line that developed over the years about Justice Clarence Thomas - another favorite target of the Left. The rap on Thomas was that he was unqualified for the Supreme Court and incapable of serious thought - so as a Justice, he blindly followed conservative superstar Antonin Scalia.

Perhaps most intriguing I the article in Huffington Post (yes, the Huffington Post), by Amy Siskind, entitled “The Undefeated: The Movie I Wish Hillary Had Made” - the premise, is obvious, getting to know the real person, and debunking media myths, however, for the film to be as well received by both the MSN, Conservative and more Left of Center outlets, is telling. Additionally, literature accompanying the film proclaims “The Road To the White House 2012”, although unannounced, the message to Palin is clear, support for a candidacy is there, and it is only a question of time before the former Alaskan Governor and 2008 GOP Vice Presidential nominee throw her hat into the ring.

Two Women: Let the attacks continue/begin.

The film on Palin will begin playing in 10 theaters in some key demographic states this weekend July 13th, for a full schedule visit: victory film group.com. The film debut took place in – Iowa. The most ridiculous article to date: (one can now, with certainly, claim Palin Derangement Syndrome) comes from Gawker Magazine online ripping through every aspect of Palin, and an article released in Newsweek, entitled: “Palin plots her next move” is more foreboding than complimentary.

Bachmann, who is definitely in the limelight, is catching flak in both print, as well as from her competition: Immediately following Bachmann’s stellar performance in the CNN Debate, a Senior Pawlenty aid made a sexist remark (see article here at the leftist “Time Magazine”.), for which he later apologized. The point being when all else fails, attack a woman because she might be attractive. Of course, that was coming from Pawlenty’s aid, however, this weekend, on Meet the Press, Pawlenty went roaring after Bachmann’s “lack of experience” in matters of governing. He’s walking a fine line - there is a general consensus among conservative as well as independent voters, that Governors have more experience than say a member of congress or the Senate and would be more capable of governing the nation (Evidence for that case: Barack Obama, one term Jr. Senator from Illinois).

That is Governor Pawlenty’s opinion; however, when Palin enters the fray, he and his aides might have to come up with a few “bombshell” remarks in order to keep the candidate in the news. Both Bachmann and Palin have a take no prisoner approach to negatives, and are far from “shrinking violets when faced with criticism either from the left or from within their own party. Points for these two women. One has to wait and see how these remarks made by Governor Pawlenty and staff, impact his overall poll rankings in the early caucus states, negatives, either in spoken, written or commercial form do not play well with Conservatives, Independents and or Moderate Democrats. The most damaging commercial in recent political context pitting female/male candidates to date, in this point of view, came from the campaigns of one Martha Coakley, who ran against Scott Brown for the open Senate Seat in the Bay State: Coakley ad here on You Tube - the result: Senator Scott Brown.

Therefore, Romney, Pawlenty, Cain, and the rest of the “boys”, including not yet announced Rick Perry, should understand that attacks on one record are just fine, don’t cross the line – otherwise, you’ll become just like your Democrat counterparts – (see Hillary Clinton).

Personal note: As a Conservative Feminist, who would, of course, want to see the first woman elected to the highest office be a qualified female, one with the wherewithal to stand up to both the press, the political left and the political right, one that would transcend criticism in the long-run, and defend themselves during their terms in office. One must reference the recently released Rasmussen poll on women and the Presidency noting that within ten years, 73% of respondents, across the political spectrum felt a woman was most likely to be President. Of note: the only option as far as time-frame offered to respondents was 10 years. One has to wonder, with the economy, the state of the nation in general, how that poll would have looked had Rasmussen suggested 2012? One has to understand that if one thought 10 years from now a woman would be elected, that they might also take that stance in less than two years (or 2012).

With that said, out of the current field, Michelle Bachmann offers her congressional experience, however, she also stands up for what she believes is right, an endearing quality to those of us sick of the “establishment”. That said, should Palin enter the race, then it stands that the former Governor from Alaska would have the full support of this writer. This is not necessarily because Governor Palin is a woman, (although that is a bonus), rather, in looking at her experience, from an historical context (and note: having attended no preview of the “undefeated”, rather having done due diligence prior to her acceptance of the 2008 VP nomination) – one finds: A woman who is in it for the people, does not differentiate between fraud or abuse by party, gets the job done, whatever that job may be, and sticks to the Constitution (in this case State of Alaska) and the courts, when it comes to her decisions. In all cases, she sticks up for herself. One has to look closely at those elite who cannot comprehend anyone who had to claw their way through their degree programs, perhaps going to several schools to achieve a goal. It is what the average American has to do, loans included, to accomplish their goals. It is this East Coat or West Coast mentality that someone who went to Harvard or Yale are ultimately superior is a fallacy. GPA’s for Presidents Bush, John Kerry, and other recent Presidents and candidates (with the exception of one Barack Obama) are available, and show less than stellar performances when it comes to “smarts”. Therefore, give us common sense and an above average or even average GPA at the finish line, relevant governing experience, the ability to cross the aisle in good times and bad, and that individual has this vote - Male or female, right now it does appear to be a female. Bonus: someone who has no direct connection to the Beltway and makes the media crazy.

2012 GOP “Pink” “Candidates” Update: Sarah Palin, Potential Candidate Responds to Jury Duty – Media Questions! AP eyes Michelle Bachmann’s Fundraising

Palin at event supporting Bachmann, image MSNBC

For many American’s the postcard in the mail, calling for one to participate in the process of the American Legal System known as Jury Duty, is a challenge of not how to serve when called, rather how to get out of serving as part of a “jury of one’s peers”. In response to Sarah Palin’s call to Jury Duty, late night talk show Comedian, Jay Leno, quipped (paraphrasing), “anyone too stupid to get out of jury duty should not be President”. There are those who will not register to vote, fearing that the dreaded postcard will end up in their mailbox, look for any way in which to make themselves unavailable to serve – however, when one seriously looks at the slight inconvenience of answering the call to serve on a jury, it is with an eye towards the duty and the privilege as a United States citizen, to be able to participate in the process of the U.S. justice system. In addition, one might need a jury of one’s peers at one point in their lifetime; therefore, karma may come in to play. Although the media is questioning the why, when and where’s of Palin’s jury duty, one has to ask, why on earth would the State of Alaska give anyone, including someone calling from CBS, ABC, MSNBC the date, place and time, of the former Governor’s call? That would do one of two things, either confirm completely that she has, indeed been called, (who makes that up?), and they (media) would not mention it again, or, the alternative, the ever “truthful” media would publish the date, time, and place, so that Palin’s might find the courtroom packed with onlookers, and media, disrupting the court, and the proceedings. Would a civil trial be mocked, what if she were not chosen to be on a jury? That would become huge news. The media is, in a word, ridiculous. (Check out ABC’s, questioning whether or not Palin actually has jury duty or is using “jury duty” as an “excuse” of some sort.)

When one answers the call, (this blogger finds it impossible to ignore, no matter the inconvenience, the call is a duty and a privilege, and allows one to participate in the process of justice), one is, with perhaps fifty to one hundred other individuals called on a specific date to a specific court (Federal, County), where one sits for either minutes or hours before being either called into a jury pool, or dismissed until the “next postcard” arrives. If one is called into the pool, one is then given a number; potential jurists are called before the lawyers for both the prosecution and the defense, asked a series of questions, and then either chosen or dismissed. If chosen, depending upon the type of trial, one may be in that courthouse for a day or weeks. It can be inconvenient; however, it also proves that our system of government is based on the individual’s ability to appeal to a jury of one’s peers. Therefore, when one does not try to “get out” of being on a jury, one is being civic minded, patriotic, and smart, whereas, should someone like Mr. Leno (or his joke writer) find themselves in the position where they might need a jury of their peers, they might hope that the individuals chosen, were as smart as say, the former Governor of Alaska, especially if innocent of charges.
One has to ask: do the critics of jury duty even vote, or participate in any other way besides, perhaps, paying taxes to the State or Federal government?
Kudos to Palin for stepping up and for the State of Alaska for protecting both the court and Palin (one would be they were protecting the Court first and foremost.)

Michelle Bachmann and her fundraising methods are the focus of an AP article: “Small checks drive Michele Bachmann's big bucks”. The article compares and contrasts Bachmann’s fundraising style with that of President Obama and former President George Bush (one should start to notice that any Republican candidate running, with any article printed, is lately, somehow, compared to George W. Bush – do they never give up?), both of the aforementioned culled the majority of their funds from major donors; those giving the maximum, while Bachmann’s funds come from individual donors, giving small amounts over an extended period of time. It is as if to say: Bachmann’s style (which is then dissected as to how fundraisers approach the donors and the costs of fundraising), may not bring in the big bucks necessary to say, out fundraise one of the “boys” be it Obama or George Bush (who is, to the best of anyone’s knowledge not running nor even involved in the process of 2012). That said, those small donors quoted in this particular article, are from places as far flung as New York, and, according to the AP, they are “retired or own small businesses” just the sort of people one might “profile” as “Tea Party Members”. Also noted is that Bachmann is climbing in the Republican Polls, specifically after her debate performance on CNN’s most recent GOP debate (If one could call it that – given the circus like atmosphere, it had a game show flavor).

Both women, it should be noted, have been outspoken in their beliefs regarding patriotism, the way things should be run (their opinion) and both have been eviscerated for being “women” in a man’s world, not just by the left, (which one would anticipate – see women on women running for President vis a vis Hillary Clinton in 2008 – the great disappearing act – or woman choosing the “rock star” over the more qualified woman), but the GOP “establishment”, or those GOP elite, beltway types, whereas anyone without a country club membership and an Ivy League Degree need not apply. Also, if you are a woman in the GOP, you might want to join say, a group called the “pink elephants” and help support the candidate (male or female) by sporting a button. Although Palin has, at times, embraced, the pink elephants, one has to ask, what color is applied to the male counterparts? Blue? Mamma Grizzly is preferred, or how about woman, female, or just plain, non-descriptive: candidate. Why the need to distinguish between male and female in this particular arena, unless of course, it is to say: women are equal. Are the men called “Blue Elephants, or maybe almost as smart and or as savvy and or as popular as the women? (Referring to so called “men” – with noted exceptions of fearless Rick Perry of dog defending, coyote shooting fame: see (this is hysterical) The Washington Posts: ) “Texas Gov. Perry fatally shoots coyote”).

How rich would our nation be, if in the 2012 campaign cycle, not one but two, or maybe three (any pink donkey’s out there want to take a jab at the President?) women, got on their patriotic, selfless, nation serving soapboxes and gave all of us an opportunity to actually have a choice besides the boys? Perhaps, just perhaps, they may, in the long run, prove to be more capable of the job, which requires nerves of steel, a certain fearlessness of the “politically correct things to say and do”, the ability to make quick decisions, multi-task, survive on little sleep, delegate, and achieve great successes, while being somewhat humble about the whole process – in other words, what every woman, regardless of party, socio economic rung, degree or not, achieves running a household and working on a daily basis.
Are the aforementioned two women right for the job? Is the country ready for a woman? Will the nation ever be ready for a woman to govern? How’s the success rate for the men been so far? How do they compare and contrast to their male counterparts? Are they credible and experienced? Can we afford not to take these women seriously? Those are the questions all voters must ask themselves as we get deeper into the process.

Bachmann Joins Palin in “Women Can’t Be President” Rant “Hill Blog” – Offers “Serious To-Do List”

A little ditty by Jill Hummer, an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Wilson College offers: : “A serious" to-do list for the female GOP candidates”, which includes: that they get serious about the economy, “Lose Fox News Celebrity Status”, and “Tone Down Silly Lingo”. She begins by noting that at this time in the 2008 election, Hillary Clinton was ahead in the polls, and so is Romney, while neither Palin or Bachman are close. Apparently, she failed to note that at this time in 2008 Mitt Romney was the favorite as well, and both he and Clinton failed to achieve the GOP nomination, Clinton robbed by Super Delegates, and Romney stymied by Mike Huckabee in Iowa and a combination of McCain, Huckabee and Fred Thompson (former Senator and Actor).
In addition, Palin, who has yet to announce is either tied or within the margin of error to Mitt Romney in many polls, while Romney is in front in certain polls, most notably Gallop, with the majority of respondents still undecided. Bachmann, who just announced last week, will most likely be making a dent in those numbers, as she continues to, as dubbed by the Christian Science Monitor Continues to Rise.

As to looking towards a strong leader, one who inspires confidence being a male trait, whereby, no female would be able to contend, think again. Turn on any talk radio show, ask a neighbor, or just view the words, actions and deeds of the two Women being advised not to appear on Fox News or use “Silly Lingo”, and one would find most hosts, callers, and others, bemoaning the fact that the only candidates from any party right now with any “male traits” (politely put), are Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin, while the men appear more like the women of yesterday.
It is that both of these women, who are smart, rededicated public servants, with records of achievement in both civic and private lives, are who they are, with no excuses, and who have a take no prisoners, pride in America attitude, which drives those on the left, and center, including Beltway, academic and Mainstream Republicans, Democrats and Progressives to flinch, just a bit.

The fact that a woman, who “studies the presidency and women”, (of which there must not be a great deal of study to do, considering we have yet to elect a woman to the highest office, and to anyone’s knowledge, only two have achieved the honor of being nominated to the “running mate status” (Palin and Geraldine Ferraro), with the third running a smart and savvy campaign until stymied by her own party and the women within (Hillary Clinton), there’s just not a lot of material there.
Perhaps it is time to go back a little further than the U.S. Presidency to find women who lead nations without hesitation, bringing peace, and standing up in war (in fact leading battles), from the beginning of written history to the 21st century. Not a one was perfect, but then again, most were born to their leadership posts as queens, or were from nations that respected women (Israel’s Golda Meir comes to mind), whereas, somehow, the nation that “leads the world in women’s rights, apparently has neglected to understand that the qualities associated with the office of the CEO of the United States, does not allude to one gender only. The Office of the Presidency is one which requires the abilities of a CEO, the ability of an individual to inspire, and lead, and the ability to choose those who will aid an administration wisely. How did the men stack up? I leave that to the reader to decide, (Please attempt to take partisan baggage out and look at the overall administration and ask the question, would a woman have not done an equal and or better job?)

In closing, the prevailing logic that most Presidents coming from a Governorship have a better record in office, may make it difficult for Bachmann, then again, the last President was elected from one term as a Senator, is a lawyer, and well, pretty much matches Bachmann career choices, (granted Bachmann is in the legislature where they actually write and vote on laws and hold the governments purse strings).
That said, it is not so much that either Bachmann and Palin may be right for the job, but they are both, Constitutionally eligible, brilliant, proven women who actually want to take on this mess of a government at this time and in this place, (ok, one might add a little crazy for wanting this particular job, but that goes to their male counterparts as well) – this is, of course, unless one must first pass the litmus test of male brilliance spouted by those from both parties, especially the women who dominate the mainstream media and academics who will, with a vengeance, do their utmost to undermine both, and any other female who dares to rise against the “accepted male norm”. It is, from this perspective, disgusting. Would it not better serve the public, and the candidates, to opine about policy differences one might have with either of the aforementioned? In a utopian America, that might be the case. Fortunately, both Bachmann and Palin appear immune to these ridiculous “ditties”, as they press on. We’re fortunate that we have one woman who has entered the race, and possibly a second who has yet to enter, giving us both an historical first for women, and an opportunity to see one elected to the highest office. It is a nation of opportunity for all, even though “all men are created equal”. It is surprising that little line was not thrown in by Ms. Hummer! The list brings one back to the 1950’s, a Betty Crocker, Good Old Boy, Wishing things were perfect world, where the women were women and the men were men. It’s no longer an option. We need strong women and strong men, to be both leaders and mentors – both these women fit the bill.
