U.S. Embassies in Egypt and Yemen Under Siege – Romney and Reality – Administration Fumbled on Middle East Foreign Policy

CNN International is reporting on a wave of violence against U.S. interests that is spreading across the Middle East – the U.S. Embassies in Yemen and Egypt are now under attack by “protestors”. The first wave came earlier this week on the anniversary of September 11, 2001, when coordinated Al Queda attacks against U.S. Embassies resulted in the death of U.S. Ambassador Christoper Stevens, in Libya (ABC News) who was the first U.S. Ambassador to be killed since the Carter Administration in 1979 (*ABC News link to Arlington Cemetery online).

Mitt Romney released a statement on the 12th, condemning the attacks and critiquing the U.S. Foreign policy which did little to alleviate the growing problem in the Middle East - The U.S. Press immediately coordinated an attack on Mitt Romney! Must Read: Erick Erickson’s The American Media Beclowned themselves Yesterday: which presents a timeline of events that is factual, as well as disconcerting to those who understand the reason why the U.S. Media cannot garner more than 17 to 24% trust by Independent and Republicans voters, or, for that matter 34 – 37% of those who identify themselves as Democrats (Gallup – Trust in Institutions polling 2012.

“Americans woke up this morning with tragic news and felt heavy hearts as they considered that individuals who have served in our diplomatic corps were brutally murdered across the world. This attack on American individuals and embassies is outrageous, it's disgusting. It breaks the hearts of all of us who think of these people who have served, during their lives, the cause of freedom, and justice and honor. We mourn their loss and join together in prayer that the spirit of the Almighty might comfort the families of those who have been so brutally slain.
“Four diplomats lost their life, including the U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, in the attack on our embassy at Benghazi, Libya. And, of course, with these words, I extend my condolences to the grieving loved ones, who have left behind, as a result of these who have lost their lives in the service of our nation, and I know that the people across America are grateful for their service and we mourn their sacrifice.
“America will not tolerate attacks against our citizens and against our embassies. We will defend also our constitutional rights of speech and assembly and religion. We have confidence in our cause in America. We respect our Constitution. We stand for the principles our Constitution protects. We encourage other nations to understand and respect the principles of our Constitution because we recognize that these principles are the ultimate source of freedom for individuals around the world.
“I also believe the Administration was wrong to stand by a statement sympathizing with those who had breached our embassy in Egypt instead of condemning their actions. It's never too early for the United States Government to condemn attacks on Americans, and to defend our values. The White House distanced itself last night from the statement, saying it wasn't ‘cleared by Washington.’ That reflects the mixed signals they’re sending to the world.
“The attacks in Libya and Egypt underscore that the world remains a dangerous place and that American leadership is still sorely needed. In the face of this violence, America cannot shrink from the responsibility to lead. American leadership is necessary to ensure that events in the region don’t spin out of control. We cannot hesitate to use our influence in the region to support those who share our values and our interests. Over the last several years, we have stood witness to an Arab Spring that presents an opportunity for a more peaceful and prosperous region, but also poses the potential for peril, if the forces of extremism and violence are allowed to control the course of events.
“We must strive to ensure that the Arab Spring does not become an Arab Winter.”

Romney is correct in his assessment of the Administration, in his assertion and view of the U.S. Role abroad, and in the delivery of his statement in the first place. As the GOP Candidate for the U.S. Presidency, one would expect a statement – what one might not anticipate is that the delivery of the statement would be, by conservative standards, Reaganesque. Reaganesque in the tone, as well as the delivery – Romney appeared Presidential in the face of what has become a full-blown assault on the U.S.

Furthermore, the disgusting rebuff of Israel by the Commander in Chief of the U.S., (i.e. the President) refusing to meet with Benjamin Netanyahu over the imminent danger and threat of war between Iran and Israel is another foreign policy failure added to the growing list of Carteresque irresponsible boondoggles abroad based on inexperience and ineptitude.

The gist: Benjamin Netanyahu, requested a meeting with President Obama, Obama replied he was engaged elsewhere (Haaretz)– this elsewhere was a David Letterman appearance(Examiner), and several fundraisers and campaign stops. Meanwhile, the Canadian’s who are not blinded by stupidity, have pulled their embassy and staff out of Iran and have kicked the Iranians out of Canada. (Disclose TV)The writing is on the wall and the lines have been drawn, and for the first time in over 40 years, America is again on the wrong side, with the result being death to American citizens abroad and continued upheaval in the region. Unless and until the election in November results in a change of the guard (polls aside conventional wisdom indicates a change in leadership is eminent), there will be continued and increasing anti-U.S. Sentiment in that region. Carter never understood why, after befriending the Ayatollah and embracing the Palestinians, why they turned on the U.S., and one would think that someone as well-educated and versed in politics as President Obama would have avoided making the same mistake. Apparently not.

It is this opinion that there is more violence on the way in the Middle East and that by abandoning the Israeli’s in favor of the Iranians’ spells disaster for the U.S. The Israeli’s will respond as necessary, as they have in the past, without the “blessing” of any U.S. administration, or for that matter, the hypocritical, taxpayer funded, body known as the U.N. The setting for this current wave of violence began in 2009 when President Obama naively embraced those who would harm us on his trip to Egypt. His dismissal of our allies in favor of the camping trail is inexcusable. The economy continues to crumble and the world is burning, it is no better or not worse than 1980, and that outcome, with polls tying all parties equal, resulted in a resounding national mandate against appeasement foreign policy, ineptitude and failure.

It is not that this blogger has always been a big fan of Romney, or did not hold out for hope and change like many American’s in 2009 as the young and hopeful President Obama set on course against division and renewal that, unfortunately did not materialize. The problems arise, not based on one’s race, or one’s religion, which factor race was proven not to be an issue by virtue of the election of Barack Obama by a majority of White Caucasians, and religion should not play a factor (the Press has little on which to attack Mitt Romney, so let’s discuss Mormons!). What should play a factor is some sort of experience, either in governing, or in business, and more than one term, be it in the Governors Mansion, or in the Senate, or Congress, or the Boardroom. What is necessary is a longer resume, and what the American Electorate decided in 2008 was to ignore history (which is no longer taught in Public Schools), and elect the second coming of Jimmy Carter (this was not in evidence until later in 2009). The concepts of Strength through Peace, and tax cuts providing a “trickle down” effect are not owned by the Republican Party – from JFK to Ronald Regan, those concepts lifted up the U.S. Economy and gave us a stable world. They are proven tactics for both the economy and foreign policy – which Romney espouses and the President disavows, in favor of Carter Policies which destroyed the U.S. Economy and resulted in the takeover of Iran and the Persian People by a radical, hate-filled and extremist brand of Islamic Elite Theocrats. The distinction is clear, it is not in the least muddy – it is heartbreaking to watch the burning U.S. flag, some 40 years forward, burning, as the Middle East once gains, murders our emissaries and displays ignorance in the face of a coming U.S. election. It is unfathomable that the President would be on the campaign trail rather than in front of the American People the hour it became known that there was something afoot, and it is unfathomable that the President and Secretary of State Hilary Clinton (a woman who is admired), would only issue statements on the situation after Mitt Romney announced his intent to do so.

Democracy Inaction in Middle East – US Policy Appears to Support or Ignore Student Protests Depending Upon Which Way the Wind Blows

In 2009, Iranian Students took to the streets in protest of an oppressive, theocracy, one where elections meant the outcome was predetermined. The Islamic State of Iran saw massive protests, first by students, who were later joined by the general populace, violently shut down by the “duly elected” Ahmadinejad. As the protestors were beaten back by hired mercenaries of the regime, the U.S., in general, paid little attention to what was, in fact, a call for true democracy and freedom in Iraq. The protests began approximately on June 15th of 2009 , while bloggers, working from twitter, and YouTube videos, attempted for days on end to get information out to the general public, as the U.S. media took a different approach. President Barak Obama, finally, on the the 23rd of June, officially “condemned” the violence against the protestors. To understand the extent of the violence against its people, and the brutal way in which this totalitarian “democracy” handles protests, visit and the support the work of Iran Human Rights. As to the U.S. response, a blind eye was turned in favor of the Iranian Regime.

Egypt is another story entirely, and although understanding that these are two entirely different types of governments, with Egypts elections pending in September of this year, both the U.S. Media and the Obama administration appear to be formally behind these protests. Obama has taken an active role in offering support to the protestors, and booting the current President, Mubarak,to the proverbial curb. The protestors, some of which are students, are not content to wait for elections, rather are attempting to force President Mubarak to resign and leave the country.

Who is in the middle of this push to remove Mubarak - The Muslim Brotherhood. They are an organization based on Jihad, which had been banned in Egypt for multiple terrorist acts, including the assassination of former President, Sadat.

Further, in June of 2009 President Obama invited the Muslim Brotherhood to attend a speech he gave in Cairo. (An excellent treatment of that visit here at www.examiner.com/foreign-policy-in-national//muslim-brotherhood-pm-invited-by-obama-to-attend-speech-cairo.)

The Muslim Brotherhood, it should be noted, has ties to Iran, and the Iranians are now making their judgments on the protests in Egypt and elsewhere : Ahmadinejad is supportive of these particular protestors, and looks for the overthrow of the current President, in order to spread this type of “revolution” across the Middle East. Of course, cast in their usual role as evil infidels: The U.S. and Israel. In addition, Ahmadinejad is fairly confident (given the aid these protestors in Egypt are getting from, of all places, the United States), is again,calling for the usual to remove Israel from the Middle East, and not reserving kind words for the U.S. Those protestors in Egypt, students and the Muslim Brotherhood, are apparently fine with both Ahmadinejad and, it appears, the U.S. under the guidance of one Barrack, James Earl Carter, Obama.

One has to ask: has the world gone mad? When legitimate peaceful protests took place in Iran, the brutality of the regime was ignored by the press, condemned halfheartedly and late by the administration. The resultant outcome of those Iranians brave enough to protest an election (which, may or may not have been legitimate, and asking only for freedom and democracy) death or imprisonment. The protestors were peaceful, the regime was insanely brutal. In Egypt on the other hand, the regime does not have a stellar human rights record, however, in this wise, students and an Obama approved Islamic Jihadist organization have every right to oust a President before his term is up. From this point of view, it is all or nothing, it is black and white, it is as plain as the nose on ones face: peaceful student protests in Iran, were given short-shrift by the U.S., while violent demonstrations in Egypt, where, should Egypt become an Islamic state (and that outcome aided by Obama’s legitimization of the Muslim Brotherhood (must like Carter vis a vis, the Ayatollah in 1978), are given the full attention of both the Media and the President. Understanding that journalists were targeted by the Egyptian regime, who were embedded in the middle of the protests, (putting themselves in harm’s way), perhaps giving more reason for the U.S.Press to side with the President over the regime. However, the fact remains that Mubarak had controlled the spread of the cult of radical Islam in Egypt, thereby stabilizing in part the Middle East. Now as a result of the interference, the entire Middle East may be lost to the stone ages. (Again refer to the documentation provided by Iran Human Rights.). What is imperative to keep in mind, the only true democracy in the Middle East is the State of Israel, an ally to the United States, and one which, always is made to be the pariah, regardless of their attempts at peace, and their national right to exist peacefully in a region beset by the insanity of Iran and now, with Obama’s aid and comfort,quite possibly Egypt and other states that are being aided by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Soros Op-Ed for Washington Post – Egypt in Turmoil - Blames Israel and Religious Right – Counsels Obama – Offers Funds for Middle East “Democracy”

George Soros, a man whose background belies his rhetoric against Israel, is now taking aim at Israel and the “Religious Right” in an op-ed published by the Washington Post:

“The main stumbling block is Israel. In reality, Israel has as much to gain from the spread of democracy in the Middle East as the United States has. But Israel is unlikely to recognize its own best interests because the change is too sudden and carries too many risks. And some U.S. supporters of Israel are more rigid and ideological than Israelis themselves. Fortunately, Obama is not beholden to the religious right, which has carried on a veritable vendetta against him. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee is no longer monolithic or the sole representative of the Jewish community. The main danger is that the Obama administration will not adjust its policies quickly enough to the suddenly changed reality.”

In the piece he praises the Muslim Brotherhood, a group that has a long history of imposing their brand of radical Muslim theology (Motto: “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. Qur'an is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.”)on nations where it has gained a foothold, including Iran in the 1970’s. .

Soros, a Hungarian Jew, was protected by his family during the 1930-1940’s Nazi Holocaust, he was given to a “Christian” who had adopted young Soros, in order to protect him from “deportation” by the Nazi’s – Soros was taken along on trips to deport Jews while taking their property and handing it over to the Nazi’s. This tragic childhood background may explain the multibillionaires obsession with meddling in governments (including the U.S. where he became a naturalized citizen in 1961). Perhaps as a catharsis for taking an active role in the destruction of his own people in Hungary, Soros uses his money to fund revolutions worldwide, while, for no clear reason, opposes Israel. Perhaps it is his claim to be an atheist, while attempting to “do good deeds”, which may make up for his past crimes against humanity. Then again, perhaps he’s just an egotistical nut. Either way, he plans to offer the Egyptians and any other governments that may arise out of turmoil - funds (Washington Post).

What is most interesting in the op-ed is that, as a Democrat Party member, he is already campaigning for Obama in this piece - demeaning the “Religious Right” in the US. Which in Soros’s mind has carried on a “vendetta” against Obama. Perhaps it is those bible clutching, gun owning individuals of Pennsylvania whom Obama spoke so fondly of, on his last campaign trip in 2008?

It appears that the Obama administration and George Soros are on the same page: While the Muslim Brotherhood, whose virtues, Soros extols, is calling for the end of peace between Egypt and Israel, as the White House discuses Mubarak’s exit from Egypt leaving the country open for free elections, with George Soros ready to lend a hand, and insure that the Muslim Brotherhood has a voice.

Mr. Soros should find a new hobby in his old age, perhaps skiing in the Swiss Alps, rather than meddling in world’s affairs with his conflicted Jewish Heritage-Anti-Semitic mindset. It is when, men of his ilk are given credibility by the likes of the American Press (note the platitudes at the end of the op-ed), one must take it with a grain of salt, perhaps they are being kind to the doddering old fool.

What one can expect is that those on the “religious right”, will have “foreseen the future” (or read about the Carter-Iran boondoggle, less than 40 years ago), and have put two plus two together. They see a nation in chaos, with no clear leadership fall into the hands of radical jihadists, who will turn Egypt, like Iran, into a Theocracy. This is where, Mr. Soros, “human rights king”, can imagine there are no rapes, murders, beheadings and other atrocities are committed.

Should this come to pass, and revolutions of this nature do move quickly (use Iran as the model), anti-American sentiment will rise above the already brewing attacks on U.S. Journalists (granted pro-Mubarak Egyptians are reportedly beating up the U.S. Journalists, as well as others who are still on the ground in that country), the government will be under Sharia Law, and American’s, including Obama will be considered “the Infidel”. This will place Obama in the same situation as was his doppelganger, one James Carter(1979), just in time for the 2012 general elections.

One has to ask: which Republican will George Soros (should he not keel over shortly) target? As of the moment, one Mike Huckabee, former Govenor of Arkansas, 2008 GOP Presidential candidate and avid fan of Israel, is polling, for the most part, ahead of other GOP potential nominees, but most importantly, ahead of the current President, in double digits. This may be why, North Carolina, where Obama actually was ahead of Huckabee (a rare occurrence), was chosen as the site of the Democrat Convention for 2012. (Polling data referred to in this section from Public Policy Polling www.publicpolicypolling.com) Note: not one of those polled has made a public announcement that they are actually running for President as of this date. One has to imagine however, that should it be the gun-toting, Christian, Israel Supporting, former two and a half term Govenor from the State of Arkansas, one Mike Huckabee, Soros may be pushed over yet another ledge.

Note: This blog does, at the moment, favor a Huckabee run at the presidency, believing his managerial experience, track record while running the State of Arkansas, his knowledge of foreign policy (form a moderate perspective), and his commitment to excellence in education, including and especially music and the arts as it relates to science and math, makes him not on the most formidable candidate, but the most qualified candidate for the job.

Friday June 11, 2001 - Harry Reid and Obama - Polls Show Downward Spiral – Fiorina’s Comment on Boxer’s Hair: Press is Shocked!

Harry Reid (D-NV), has every intention of fighting for his Senate Seat, and was hoping the results of the Republican Primary this past week, would aid him in that fight. Reid, who feels somehow that his views are mainstream, was hoping that Angle would be the nominee, and he did get his wish. The problem: new polls out by Rasmussen Reports show Reid trailing Angle by 11 points. The poll results, Angle at 50% and Reid at 39%, should Reid run the negative campaign he is planning, it will in all likelihood widen the gap for Angle. According to the Washington Post Angle is now the DNC’s top target, , however, Reid’s favorability has remained consistently low, and regardless of which opponent he has faced in polling, fell behind by double digits. At this point in the game it is apparent that Nevada is bent on ridding themselves and the nation of Reid. Additionally, the DNC has multiple incumbents in real trouble across the country - it is surprising that they would throw the majority of their weight at a race which, for all intents and purposes, has little hope of having a positive outcome. The DNC should check Vegas odds prior to dropping a dime in any race.

The President is not faring much better, as Gallop polling now shows a 44% overall job approval, the bloom is off the rose. The BP oil spill has the nation fixated; CNN’s has been blaring daily updates. The Coast Guard, is now in charge of the operation. The slow response, despite pleas from contractors and engineers who attempted to meet with the administration and BP officials days after the gulf rig exploded, only add to the aura of incompetence surrounding the administration. Add to Gulf Oil woes, the jobless rate is now seen as permanent bad news fixture. Bloomberg news: “more new claims were filed last week than anticipated”.

Past comparisons to former one-term, peanut-farming President, Jimmy Carter, are now unfair to Carter, who, although equally incompetent in dealing with the economy and international crisis, did not place the nation’s future in as grave a fiscal danger as Obama and his current Congress. Additionally, Carter remained scandal free, whereas, questions concerning offering candidates for office, high profile jobs if they would step aside during primaries, as still making headlines for the Obama administration. The ranking Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, is calling for a Hatch Act investigation. Lest anyone forget, the Blagojevich trial is in place; in recent testimony by Blagojevich aids, it was indicated that there was conversations between the Governor’s office and the Obama camp regarding the barter of Senate seats.

Last but not least: the California Senate Contest has taken a catty turn. In a fashion critique caught on tape, no less, Republican Nominee Carly Fiorina, was heard (on open mic) suggesting sitting Senator and opponent, Barbara Boxer, update her hairstyle. This, has of course, made national headlines, including a Washington Post analysis. The point - who cares – the Press did everything it could to demean Hillary Clinton during the 2008 presidential primaries, specifically attacking her appearance, and followed suit (actually ramped up the rhetoric) a bit when it came to Sarah Palin. Now, when a Republican nominee remarks on her competitions hairstyle, it’s a “big deal”. Apparently this beats covering the next mess over at the White House.
