It is Possible? Emergence of Major U.S. Third Political Party - Conservative Party Tests the 23rd New York District Race – Sara Palin Jumps on Board

American Conservative Party - The Changing American Political Landscape -image api

Addendum: To clarify there are two Conservative Parties - one the Conservative Party of New York, which nominated Doug Hoffman's as their candidate, and the American Conservative Party, which was founded in 2008.

According to Politico, the New York 23rd Districthas become a testing ground for the Conservative Party. As a general rule, a third party candidate rarely makes an impact in a state’s primary, let alone attains a higher office, be it a U.S. Congressional, U.S. Senate or State Governor’s seat. According to the Congressional Office of the Clerk only two seats are held by “Independents” in the U.S. Senate and the two major political parties hold all 50 of the State’s Governors positions.

That said, over the past six months, several conservative organizations, have attracted members from both Democrat, Republican, Conservative and Independent party affiliations; the Tea Party and 912 Project in response to multiple pieces of legislation passed or proposed by the Obama Administration and the Democrat controlled Congress.

The March on Washington to protest government waste and the growing deficit, attracted millions of disenfranchised voters and was downplayed in the U.S. press, . The Town Hall Meetings over health care reform saw huge attendance, all of which was characterized in the mainstream U.S. press as being designed by either Republican Party activist for large insurance companies. Leading members of the Democrat Party went so far as to chastise those attending as being “Nazi’s” or again, tools of the Republican Party or “Big Insurance”. Therein lay the problem with the extreme partisan policies of the current Administration and the like-minded members of the U.S. Congress – either ignorance or arrogance; a belief in the two party system is so entrenched in the minds of those in the beltway, that a failure to truly understand the pulse of the American electorate caused an extreme error in judgment. This backlash against a bi-partisan, multi-party protest has caused smaller parties to gain momentum, and this is now being tested in the New York 23rd district, and one would well imagine, that there are “Conservative” or Independent candidates in districts and states across the nation.

Is the angst of those who are investing their political affiliation into a third party directed solely at the Democrats? The resounding answer is no – a general distrusts of both political parties is fueling the move towards alternatives choices in government. During the Bush administration, a lack of a cohesive border control plan had conservatives up in arms. Between the two major political parties, conservatives or independents found the need for an alternative.

The New York 23rd appears to be a battleground of sorts, for both all three parties. The big story here is the fact that leading conservatives are jumping on board in support of a third party. A story by Conservative author and commentator, Michele Malkin is entitled: “Message to GOP: Can you hear conservatives now?”, and goes towards the general dissatisfaction conservatives feel towards the GOP “establishment”. That story has been updated, since GOP Vice Presidential Nominee, Sarah Palin, endorsed Doug Hoffman, the Conservative Candidate in the NY 23rd district. The Republican Candidate, Dede Scozzafava, was endorsed by former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, and is seen by those in the Conservative Party, as more of the same. In other words, the moniker that became popular during the last few decades, ”Republicat”, refers to a melding of the political ideology of both major political parties.

The result is that the latest poll shows that the Conservative Party candidate, has gained substantial ground in the past two weeks, giving credence to both the Tea Party and 912 Project members who have flocked to New York in his support. It is not only the fact that Hoffman shares similar ideals, but it is also a slap at those in the media and the administration who wrongly characterized both movements as “Republican”.
Should the election on the 23rd result in Hoffman becoming the first Conservative Party U.S. Congressional Representative, it might behoove those living in the glass bubble that is the arrogance of major political parties, to rethink the power of the ordinary American and their desire to follow the U.S. Constitution rather than stay complacent as so may have done in the past.

The Nation Wakes Up - While ABC News and AP Rip Gibbs over Obama Miniscule Budget Cuts – Freedom Works Plans September 12 March on Washington

The Capital - image CNN

On Monday during the White House Press Briefing Robert Gibbs dodged questions from AP Reporter Jennifer Loven and ABC’s White House Correspondent, Jack Tapper. A Video of the exchange is available at Real Clear Politics. At issue, the $100 Million in budget cuts that Barack Obama requested from his Cabinet - (Granted he said it was just a “drop in the bucket) – a transcript of the exchange:

JENNIFER LOVEN, AP: The $100 million target figure that the president talked about today with the Cabinet; can you explain why so small? I know he talked about -- you know, you add up 100 million and 100 million, and eventually, you get somewhere, but it would take an awfully long time to add up hundred million (inaudible) in the deficit. Why not target a bigger number?

GIBBS: (Smiling) Well, I think only in Washington, D.C. is a hundred million dollars...

LOVEN: The deficit's very large. It's not a joke.

GIBBS: No, I'm...

LOVEN: The deficit's giant. $100 million really is only a step.

GIBBS: But no joke.

LOVEN: You sound like you're joking about it, but it's not funny.

GIBBS: I'm not making jokes about it. I'm being completely sincere that only in Washington, D.C. is $100 million not a lot of money. It is where I'm from. It is where I grew up. And I think it is for hundreds of millions of Americans.

LOVEN: The point is it's not a very big portion of the deficit.

TAPPER: You were talking about an appropriations bill a few weeks ago about $8 billion being minuscule -- $8 billion in earmarks. We were talking about that and you said that that...

GIBBS: Well, in terms of -- in...(CROSSTALK)

TAPPER: ...$100 million is a lot but $8 billion is small?

In the grand scheme of things, with the earmarks included in this budget in the billions, Obama should be telling those members of Congress and the Senate to start eliminating earmarks post-haste. A primary example would be Senator Diane Feinstein (CA-D), requested $25 billion for a firm that awarded a contract to her husband. It’s only money, taxpayers money, and the taxpayers are fed up with both parties abuse of the public trust – from bumbling Barney Frank (D-MA) and Mortgage Mogul Chris Dodd’s (D-CT) mismanagement of financials, to Harry Reid’s high speed train from Vegas to Disney; the never ending list of earmarks reads like a monopoly game run amok.
The Tea Party’s held across the country on April 15th, may have given, Obama advisor and Political Kingmaker (Duval Patrick Governor (D-MA) and Barack Obama), David Axelrod the “hebbie jebbies”
Axelrod was asked on CBS's "Face the Nation" about the "spreading and very public disaffection" with the president's fiscal policies seen at the "Tea Party" rallies around the country last week.
"I think any time you have severe economic conditions there is always an element of disaffection that can mutate into something that's unhealthy," Axelrod said.

One has to wonder how Mr. Axelrod, and his friends at what has become known as MSDNCby conservatives, will react when the Tax Day Tea Party takes to the road in a planned March on Washington DC on September 12. (suggested – road trip) Permits have been secured, and this grassroots organization which managed to mobilize an estimated 800,000 non-violent protesters on April 15th, will send another message to Washington regarding fiscal responsibility, or the lack thereof. Freedom Works, a Washington based Conservative Think Tax, has an outstanding Board of Directors, including Steve Forbes of Forbes Magazine and former House Majority Leader, Dick Armey. There is a link on the website homepage which allows one to sign-up for the March in September (suggested). It might be interesting to see the next Janet Napolitano Homeland Security Missive, naming publishers, investors, and former House Speakers as possible domestic terrorist, right along with those dangerous pro-life Christians.

A side note: The Tax Day Tea Party’s that were held across the nation were organized by several groups, Freedom Works being one of the most prevalent sponsors. The events were bi-partisan and included individuals from all parties. For enthusiastic coverage of the Chicago Tea Party Event visit; Hillbuzz.org, a moderate Democrat blog.

Tax Day Tea Party – From the Bay State to the Windy City to the Golden Gates

“Yes We Can” – Reject Higher Taxes and Fees - Massachusetts Residents across the State have planned Tax Day Tea Party’s for April 15th in the following locations:

  • Boston, Statehouse, 10 am – 8 pm
  • Lowell, JFK Plaza, Lowell City Hall, 4 pm – 8 pm
  • Pittsfield, Park Square, 4pm – 6 pm
  • Springfield, Post Office, Corner of Main and Liberty, 4 pm – 6 pm
  • Worcester, Lincoln Square, in front of the Auditorium, 4 pm – 6 pm

  • Over in Illinois, home to Lincoln and Barak Obama, citizens will be holding two Tax Day Tea Party’s in the City of Chicago:

  • Chicago, 12 – 2 pm, Daily Plaza
  • Chicago, Navy Pier, 4:30 pm – 9 pm Young Republicans, Tall Ship – Recreation of the Boston Tea Party (for info on this event visit Hillbuzz

  • Astoundingly, there will be a Tax Day Tea Party at the following location:
  • San Francisco, Civic Center Park, 11 am – 1 pm. One should not expect the current speaker to attend.

There are Tax Day Tea Party’s being held across the country, the website Tax Day Tea Party.com has listings for each state. The event is sponsored in part, by the following groups: Smart Girl Politics, Top Conservatives of Twitter, and The Don’t Go Movement.

By most accounts, these groups are conservative – that said, regardless of who may be sponsoring this particular brand of protest, anyone, regardless of party affiliation, should consider taking part. The term, “no taxation without representation” was the rallying cryfor the original Boston Tea Party, which is credited as the beginning of the Colony’s (States), war for Independence against Great Britain.

Our country was founded based on a refusal to pay taxes without representation – one might argue that U.S. citizens are represented by their respective Congress and Senate members; that said, with a two party system so deeply committed to a bizarre competition of “who brings the most pork” home to a district or state, in order to continue to maintain their seat of power indefinitely (argument for term limits right there), those members no longer have the time to do the business of the people, rather they are committed to a political party first, their ability to maintain their own power second.

Finally, One must, however, give credit where credit is due – therefore, to be fair to the fiscally conservative members of both party’s who voted Nay on passing the bloated Obama budget, a thank you should be sent to the 176 Republicans (All) and 20 Democrats who voted Nay. These members are:
