MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and Russia's Pravda – Criticism of Obama and his Disregard for the Constitution.

Rachael Maddow - H/T to Canada Free Press

Rachel Maddow, host of a 9PM MSNBC news program, had an epiphany on the 21st of May – the President that is most adored by this specific network, had stepped over the legal liberal line, in announcing his plan to permanently detain certain prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, and develop, in concert with the Congress and Senate, new laws pertaining to indefinite detention. Maddow had praise for the first part of Obama’s speech, after all he was criticizing the Bush administration, (a rallying cry for the MSNBC crew), however, Maddow was shocked when Obama, faced with the reality of those held at Guantanamo, decided that, just perhaps, some of those held, should remain so indefinitely. This so rattled the usually pro-Obama host that she delivered, what is to date, the most stunning criticism of the President found on that network. (Video below) The Maddow Show ranks 3rd in the timeslot, with the network 3rd overall, behind the dominant Fox and second CNN news networks with an absolute liberal bias present.

Therein lies the rub – Obama is stuck between the proverbial “rock and a hard place” – if the President takes a stand that is deemed slightly moderate, or even conservative (hawkish), he is seen by those on the extreme left as having “betrayed” campaign promises. Those on the right, who were well aware of his somewhat slim legislative record, understood that the President leaned sharply left, however, hoped that once in office, he would, as in many cases in the past, with one exception (see Jimmy Carter), move to the middle of the political spectrum on all issues. The problem Ms. Maddow has with the President is based upon her own political ideology regarding detention of those at Guantanamo, that said, she brings up a point regarding Obama’s assertion that the Congress and Senate have the ability to write rules of law that circumvent the constitution – and it chills her to the bone – as it should.

When the President, while celebrating his election victory in Chicago, claimed Abraham Lincoln as his inspiration – that was a clear warning to those who understood how Lincoln operated, what might take place as regards the Constitution. To most American’s Lincoln is attributed with ending slavery and preserving the Union of these United States of America - that, and the fact that everyone gets a day off in February, and somehow Lincoln is involved. However, Lincoln, brilliant as he was, also suspended that Document, in order to achieve his goals – which were to maintain the Southern States standing within the Union, based upon economics and, at any cost. In a nutshell, Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus and Freedom of the Press was not an option (editors who disagreed with Lincoln found themselves jailed, courtesy of a separate civilian security force.) and he found a way in which to do legally justify his actions.

As not one of the pundits, from either the right or the left, have a crystal ball and can accurately predict what President Obama will or will not do in the course of the next two to four years, one thing is certain, he will disappoint those on the extreme left, and he will rile those on the extreme right – in order to maintain his place in history, he must govern from the middle – which will be his greatest challenge. The Russian's weigh in:

According to a recent editorial in the Russian Newspaper Pravda, Barack Obama is steering the United States towards a total Marxists state, with lightening speed no less. The author offers a few valid points to make his case; the intentional dummying down of the American populace through the Education System (one which is run by Progressives), leading to a populace that knows more about who won “American Idol” than who leads the nation. He goes on to point out that there has developed a ruling class of elites, who believe they are entitled to guide the “masses”, and further degrades the citizens of this great nation for not fighting the good fight against the elite Marxists. That is where he veers off the historical track – not taking into account the ability of the American people to vote, change their minds like the wind, and elect an entirely different political party within a very short period of time.

The fact that certain practices put into place (GM Bailout with the UAW holding stock, for instance), by this administration, like any other practices put in place by previous administrations, can be undone in the future has not been taken into consideration by this author. As blindly partisan as American’s can be when it comes to one party or the other, it is the performance of a given President, and by virtue of association, every Congressman and Senator of the same party, that will either be granted a pass or fail by those “masses”. If the President is canny enough, and there is no reason to believe Obama is not, he will take a moderate tone, allowing those in the Senate and Congress to push for policy – should the decisions made be unpopular with the American public, will then be blamed on those legislators – resulting in a scenario similar to that which occurred post Carter (similar in that, Carter never moved to the center). The 2010 general election will be the first “grade” given to the Democrat Party and its control of the government, should certain high-profile Senators or Congressmen, or even those not so high profile, lose to the opposition party, it will be the harbinger of change – one thing that is constant in American politics. Therefore, within two to four years, Ms. Maddow may be found decrying the events of elections that will place those “Republicans” back in power – blaming those “non-elite” American “sheep”.

Gloria Fox, Massachusetts House Rep., Embroiled in Prison, Sex Scandal

Gloria Fox, , Democrat Representative for Roxbury in the Massachusetts House, is the focus of the latest scandal to come out of Beacon Hill. Fox, who snuck an aid into a high security prison in order to arrange a visit with Fox, who snuck an aid into a high security prison in order to arrange a visit with her boyfriend Derrell Jones who is serving time for murder. From the Boston Herald:

Using her State House-issued, all-access prison privileges, Fox, 67, visited convicted murderer Darrell Jones in the high-security segregation unit of the Old Colony Correctional Center with a woman the Roxbury Democrat claimed was her “best aide,” two prison sources told the Herald.
In deference to Fox’s status as a legislator, she and Joanna Marinova, 26, were ushered unsearched into an area Marinova would normally have been barred from - a clear security breach - according to two sources.
But Fox and the woman were bagged by a vigilant guard who recognized the “aide” as Jones’ girlfriend - a woman previously written up for engaging in prohibited “sexual acts” in the visitor room with Jones.
Jones, 42, was convicted of first-degree murder in 1985 for the Brockton killing of Guillermo Rodrigues, 41.
Prison spokeswoman Diane Wiffin, referring to Fox’s apparent charade, told the Herald, “The DOC is looking into the incident.”

To make matters more interesting: Under state law, certain members of government, including all legislators, can visit any prison unannounced and without the permission of DOC officials.
“While most state reps use this privilege to take a tour, she visited an individual, which is unheard of,” a prison source said.
After Marinova was booted from the prison, Fox spent four hours and 10 minutes with Jones, according to a visitor’s log.
The day after Fox’s bizarre visit on May 7, Jones was inexplicably transferred from solitary confinement in Bridgewater to a coveted single cell in the general population of medium-security MCI-Norfolk prison, sources said.

Suddenly, Fox has “Lawyered up” and is denying anything untoward too place. Calling the charges “lies”, despite the fact that prisons have “security cameras”.

Additionally, Fox is also now claiming that she was “deceived” by the murderers girlfriend.

In the past, this behavior of entitlement and abuse of power on Beacon Hill went unanswered (until an offense was so over-the-top an arrest had to be made), but now there is a very vocal Mass GOP. They are demanding that the Patrick-Murray Administration provide some answers to the good citizens of the Commonwealth. The MassGOP would like to know why a convicted murderer is now receiving preferential treatment after a visit by the Democrat Fox, who had smuggled his girlfriend into the prison.

Jennifer Nassour, Mass GOP Chair has a few questions regarding this latest episode: Nassour said: "Aside from Representative Fox's troubling and bizarre actions, a more serious question is why the Patrick-Murray Administration transferred a convicted felon from high-security, solitary confinement to a medium-security private cell after the representative visited him for four hours. Why was this action taken? Who ordered it ? Why was standard prison policy ignored? What role did Representative Fox play in this action?"

Nassour also called for a public explanation from Fox.
What we appear to have here in Massachusetts is a State Rep, who abused her legislative authority in order to sneak a woman (she now claims deceived her), into a maximum security prison, in order to have sex with a convicted killer. Either way, Fox should resign, if she did abuse powers, and in an attempt to cover up their comrades faux pas, the Administration decided to quickly move the evidence (murderer) to a more cushy spot, that’s reprehensible behavior (or the usual for Beacon Hill Democrats), or, if she was too stupid to see through the scam, how on earth is she able to make viable decisions when it comes to the legislative process?

So Much for Freedom of the Press – Georgia Ethnic Newspaper Journalist Physically Removed from Obama Presence - Opinion

Pro-Choice Catholic Journalist Removed by Obama Security Detail -AP Photo, NBC Affiliate

The Reverend Brenda Lee , a Catholic, African-American Journalist, was physically removed from a press area, while waiting for Air Force One to arrive. Brenda Lee writes a column, “The Birds Eye View” for the African-American Newspaper, The Georgia Informer. The report, from LA News, an NBC affiliate, described Ms. Lee as a “reporter for a small newspaper”, who was removed because she wanted to hand Obama a letter, asking him to “take a stand on traditional marriage”.

Apparently, Ms. Lee was first escorted away from the Press Area by the Secret Service, then allowed to return under conditions that she not “yell or wave”, however, another security team forcibly removed her.

First, it should not matter what type of newspaper, or media one works for, in fact, local community and ethnic papers are the lifeblood of many communities – not, perhaps, as grand as the local daily paper, should there still be one, but more in tune with what is happening in that particular community, giving the readers local coverage, and in some cases, opinion and coverage on state and national issues - they can often be apolitical.

Secondly, the woman, a professed Catholic, was penalized because she wanted to hand a letter, first to the Secret Service detail, who refused to take it, and then directly to the President, not a staffer to whom she was referred. Frankly, she was in the press area, she was surrounded by not only Secret Service, but by another security outfit and she identified herself. The fact that she was first allowed to stay and then removed, because she wanted to hand a letter, to the President, an act that would have taken 5 seconds, seems ridiculous. Where was the harm in allowing an African American woman Journalist, from an African American Publication in Macon, Georgia, to hand the President a sealed letter?

Perhaps with the emphasis on domestic terrorists, Ms. Lee may have been on some watch list, as a potential threat due to the fact that she is also a Catholic and pro-Life.
Her last column, , a Mother’s Day missive regarding traditional values, asked that the President appoint a “God Fearing” Judge, rather than one more liberally inclined. The African-American community (which this blog hates to pigeonhole, as we are all American’s, should we have legal citizenship, and therefore, the designation of ethnicity and race, in every facet of American life, lends to a separation , not inclusion into American Culture, leading to bigotry and racial tensions. The language is to keep in context with the original story, however, one feels somewhat hypocritical in doing so.) is, for the most part, conservative regarding social issues, like so many other “ethnic groups” that adhere to Christian principals. Those that would dismiss the overly enthusiastic Catholic, pro-life, pro-marriage, journalist from a small newspaper in Macon Georgia, would do well to remember that not all journalist and newspapers (regardless of size) are staffed by the “elite” East and West Coast brand of progressives who hold themselves above the “masses” who they feel are, unfortunately, unable to form an opinion. Although this woman does not meet certain elite criteria, she certainly meets the criteria of “American Journalist”, and therefore, should have been treated with respect.

The U.S. Senate: The Value Added Tax and High End Income Tax Should Be Considered

Tax Experts have approached Treasury Secretary Tim Geithnerregarding the institution of a Value Added Tax. Additionally, the Washington Post is reporting that North Dakota Democrat, Kent Conrad, believes that both a Value Added Tax and a high end income tax need to be implemented as part of “tax reform”.

A Value Added Tax, or VAT, is defined as follows:
Value Added Tax (VAT) is a form of indirect tax applied to the value added at each stage of production (primary, manufacturing, wholesale and retail). This tax is much like the sales tax paid in the United States. VAT may be calculated by the subtraction method or credit method. The subtraction method applies the tax to the difference between the value of the purchases and the value of outputs. The credit method applies the tax rate to total sales and then gives each member of the distribution channel a rate adjusted credit on purchases. The European Union, Japan and some South American countries assess VAT at a rate of 15-25 percent.

The Fair Tax, or a consumption based tax, is similar in that it is a “progressive national retail sales tax”, one which “replaces all federal income and payroll based taxes with an integrated approach including a progressive national retail sales tax, a prebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending up to the poverty level, dollar-for-dollar federal revenue neutrality, and, through companion legislation, the repeal of the 16th Amendment.”

The VAT, however, charges a tax at every stage, which causes a rise in prices for consumers, who, in the U.S. are still subject to state and local sales taxes. The Fair Tax is charged at the time of purchase and stop-gaps are in place to insure those that are in lower-income brackets are safeguarded.

Why is the VAT being considered? The cost of the proposed Health Care Reform by the Obama Administration and Congress is so costly that the current Income Tax would not be sufficient to foot the bill. Currently, the Internal Revenue Service, has experienced a loss in revenue of 34% this year, due to the high number of unemployed not paying into the system. The net result is an increased inability to pay for programs already in place, let alone new programs being suggested.

The problem with the current Administration and simpatico legislature adding a VAT as part of a reform of the TAX system is that there is no mention of this type of tax replacing the Income Tax; rather, it is an addition. Also, there are no safeguards in place for those consumers on fixed incomes. Those living in states that have both income and sales taxes in place, yet are seeking ways to pay for continued state and federal mandated programs (see Massachusetts – entitlements and corruption), will suffer considerably.

The only solution is for the government to curb spending, overhaul the way in which government agencies are budgeted, and cut earmarks entirely. The current method for disbursement of budget funds to government agencies demands that each department spend the entire budget, should a department come in under budget for any fiscal year, they may be penalized by losing funds the following year. This method currently in place produces waste, an alternate approach would be to reward those agencies and/or employees that find methods of cutting their department’s budget each year with a bonus, the savings could be added to the following year’s budget, with no loss of budget funds for that particular agency. This would save the taxpayers untold millions, and provide incentives for those agencies to consistently come in under budget.

The Stimulus Bill passed by the Administration has created temporary jobs, without producing one private sector job. In the States that are hardest hit by the current recession, such as Massachusetts, continue to exploit their citizens with round after round of new taxes. Tim Geithner recently visited with Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, and said that the economic plan is working, specifically the $780 Billion that is being spent to stimulate the economy. Not everyone in Massachusetts is in agreement. The Massachusetts GOP dismissed theses claims, citing that the stimulus has not helped create jobs in the entitlement rich, debt ridden Commonwealth. The Executive Director for the MassGOP, Nick Connors said: "The reckless spending of the Obama Administration has not created the jobs that were promised, and Massachusetts is proof of that. Our unemployment rate is 8 percent and the only new jobs being created are in state government, which has added 2,000 new soft landings for Patrick-Murray Administration supporters. Families and small businesses in Massachusetts are hurting, and Governor Patrick and the Democrats are trying to squeeze even higher taxes out of them to fund pension abuse and do-nothing state jobs. If Geithner and Obama want to help the people of Massachusetts, they'll tell the Massachusetts Democrats to clean up Beacon Hill, and they will return the stimulus money to the taxpayers by lowering their federal taxes."

What Mr. Connors is suggesting is Tax Cuts, which have been proven over time, and under varied administrations (Kennedy, Reagan, and Bush) to be most effective as a stimulus. With a VAT on the table, in addition to the current Income Tax, (on a Federal Level), the burden on the tax payer would be unbearable, and for those on fixed incomes, the quality of life would be untenable.

North Korea has the Russian’s Concerned – Worth Reviewing - The original Duck and Cover.

Reuters is reporting that Russia has now expressed concerns that North Korea’s fascination with nuclear weapons may, in fact, result in a nuclear conflict. North Korea is now threatening the United States and South Korean’s navy with military action. The ships which are near a disputed international border have come under North Korean scrutiny.
From the AP
Pyongyang, reacting angrily to Seoul's decision to join an international program to intercept ships suspected of aiding nuclear proliferation, called the move tantamount to a declaration of war.

With the U.N. crafting a strongly worded letter to the unstable regime, and Obama deciding which club to use to better his golf game, the North Korean’s are most likely determining the distance necessary to take out the Alaskan Oil Fields. One does not even dare to speculate on what effect an actual attack on American soil would produce. The time for diplomacy and talking with ones enemies is drawing to a close. What America needs is a Cowboy at the helm, plain and simple. There would be no questions as to whether North Korea would have dared to go this far if Bush and Cheney were at the helm.

As a precaution: The video below, “Duck and Cover”, was released in the 1950’s to aid citizens in the event of such a scenario.

Latest Poll – Chris Dodd Approvals Remain Low Despite Obama’s “Help” – Dodd continues to trail Republican Simmons for Senate Seat.

The latestpoll released today by Quinnipiac shows Incumbent Senator Chris Dodd’s approval rating has increased slightly – to 38%, an increase over April 2, where he had a 33% approval rating. Dodd’s dismal polling is significant given the fact that Obama was recently “stumping” for Dodd, which yielded an increase of a mere 5 points.

In a match-up with Republican Simmons (who has not yet begun to actively campaign), Dodd increased his lead by 5 points, again, numbers that do not signify any significant gains for Dodd.

Polls Indicate Problems for Embattled Democrats Nationwide

It may still be early to project the outcome of the 2010 general election, yet there appears to be a certain change in the wind according to polls taken across the country. A May 20th Quinnipiac Polls gives Republican Christopher Christie a substantial lead over Democrat Governor Corzine by a 45-38 margin. In New York, The Marist Poll wonders if Paterson’s approval ratings have a bottom. Newly announced, (papers filed yesterday) New York Republican gubernatorial candidate, Rick Lazio, bests Paterson in the another Marist Poll by 3 points. In Massachusetts, incumbent Governor Deval Patrick, has an approval rating only slightly higher than Patterson’s. Christie Mihos, a fiscal conservative, is the first Republican to announce a run against Patrick.

In Connecticut, Senator Chris Dodd, is anxiously waiting for results from the latest Quinnipiac poll due out today. The last poll indicated a 33% approval rating, with Republican, Rob Simmons besting Dodd in early polling. In Nevada, Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, could be easily replaced – the latest poll by Mason-Dixon shows that Reid has a 38% approval rating. Currently, his republican opposition is anti-tax, conservative Sharron Angle.

The current trend towards embattled Democrat Incumbents, most of whom mentioned here are rather high-profile, however, that said, the economy will be the driving factor in the 2010 race. With a Legislature controlled by the Democrat party since 2006, and the White House spending faster than money can be printed, those independents that bought the “middle class tax cut” and make up the majority of the electorate, will push the line in Vegas , which, in all likelihood, stands to favor a Republican resurgence.

North Korea, Iran Defiant – Obama - Return of the “Paper Tiger”

North Korea’s continues defiance of both the U.N. and President Obama’s objection to continued nuclear weapons testing reached new heights this Memorial Day weekend, with a test where results equaled the blast at Hiroshima. Undoubtedly, the regime of Kim Jong Il, expected little in the way of repercussions, rather, exactly what occurred: strong condemnation from the U.N. and U.S. President Barack Obama. Although the U.N. met in an emergency session, it is likely a strongly worded condemnation will result, and should any sanctions be imposed, without the cooperation of China, the status quo will remain the same.

In an article from the Boston Globe, Tuesday morning, spoke to the naiveté of the Obama administration regarding the belief that talks with the regime would produce results.
”The Obama Administration “came into office hopeful that an outreached hand would yield better results,” said Michael J. Green, former senior Asia advisor to President George W. Bush. “They are now in a much more sober and realistic mood (North Korea’s Leaders) mean it when they say they want to establish themselves as a nuclear weapons state.”

Further:

“The specialists also said the tests indicated that Obama’s entreaties for North Korea to return to international disarmament talks – including dangling the prospect of one-on-one talks with the United States – have failed to provide even a pause in the country’s nuclear ambitions.”

Iran had sent warships into the
Gulf of Aden - a move seen as unprecedented and designed to show “its ability to confront any foreign threats.” Ahmadinejad has rejected the U.N.’s suggestion not to continue their nuclear program, and father, Ahmadinejad suggests a debate with U.S. President Barak Obama on “world problems and collective collaboration.”

In addition, after talks with Obama last week, Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu (Reuters) is defying “Obama on Israeli Settlement Freeze”. With over 50 percent of Israelis’ polled suggesting immediate strikes on Iran and Israel’s Defense Minister telling the nation to prepare for all-out war, it appears that the current U.S. foreign policy needs revisions in order to stabilize two rogue regimes and gain back the friendship of the only ally in the Middle East.

The term Paper Tiger refers to a regime that appears powerful, yet is actually ineffective, and was first used by the Chinese under Mao, specifically against the U.S. (source Dictionary Bablyon.com). Over the years it has been used to describe the United States on more than one occasion and under the leadership of more than one administration. That said, when candidate Barrack Obama spoke of talking with (with the intent of reasoning with) certain regimes, it was an immediate indication that the era of George W. Bush (seen as “No Paper Tiger”), was coming to an end. This set the stage for a multitude of tests for the new administration by these same countries (dubbed the Axis of Evil by Bush), to see just how ineffective or effective the new President may be - should the Obama administration continue with current policy, one can anticipate more aggressive behavior from both Iran and North Korea.

Unfortunately, this too is reminiscent of the Carter Administration’s many attempts at “peace” through negotiations, which resulted in Carter’s “critics” charging he had “lost control of the situation.” The defiance by America’s detractors came to a head when the Iranian Government under Ayatollah Khomeini (returned to power by Carter), took the U.S. Embassy and its staff hostage.
The infamous 3 A.M. call(s) are now coming fast and furious – for anyone with buyer’s remorse – this reminder:

Obama As Pragmatist – Yes We Can – Run out Of Money

In an interview Friday, May 23 between Steve Scully, Political Editor, C-SPAN and President Barack Obama questions ranged from the economy to appointments to the Supreme Court.
From The Chicago Sun Times comes an article by Lynn Sweet entitled “Obama defines his pragmatism for C-SPAN's Steve Scully”. There were two significant statements made by the President, one of which was picked up by a variety of news services immediately, while the other was – not.

Obama’s blatant: “We’re Out of Money” broke on the Drudge Report immediately, while the fact that the President's choice of a Supreme Court Justice appears to be the portion that interests most news outlets.

On Choosing a Supreme Court Justice:

"SCULLY: Is there a justice current or former that you look at as a role model, as kind of the characteristics that you want in a Supreme Court justice?
OBAMA: Well you know, I mean each justice I think brings their own qualities, and you know, there are some justices who are wonderful writers, even justices I don't agree with, Justice Scalia is a terrific writer, and makes really interesting arguments.
You have people like Judge – Justice O'Connor, who again, I might not have agreed with her on every issue, but you always had a sense that she was taking the law and seeing what the practical applications of the law in this case. She wasn't a grand theoretician, but she ended up having an enormous influence on the law as a whole.
And on the other hand there are Justices like Brennan or Marshall, who really focused on the broader sweep of history and came at a time during the Civil Rights movement, where they recognized the unique role that – the unique role that courts could play in breaking the political logjam that had locked out too many people in the political process.
And so, different times call for different justices, each justice has their own strengths as well as weaknesses. And what I just want to make sure of is that any justices I appoint are people who have not only the academic qualifications or intellectual capacity, but also the heart and the feel for how Americans are struggling in their day-to-day lives.
And also, an appreciation I think for how, even though, we live in new times there are some time tested principles embodied in our constitution that have to be respected.

SCULLY: Let me follow-up on that, because you could have 2 or 3 more appointments in the next couple of years.
OBAMA: Right.
SCULLY: Is that the imprint that you want on the Supreme Court?
OBAMA: I don't want to jump the gun. Obviously, nobody else has announced their retirements, but the criteria that I described, a strong intellectual grasp of the law, an appreciation for the timeless principles of the constitution, and a sense of common sense and compassion and empathy for ordinary Americans, so that everybody is heard. Those are all qualities that I think make for a great Supreme Court justice.
SCULLY: William Howard Taft served on the court after his presidency, would you have any interest in being on the Supreme Court?
OBAMA: You know, I am not sure that I could get through Senate confirmation."

It is apparent that the President feels a strict interpretation of the Constitution is not necessary, rather“empathy” for the American People – in other words, a perfect Obama Justice would peruse the Constitution and then, based upon the ideology of said Justice, render a decision based upon his or her own political point of view. This is otherwise known as “legislating from the bench” That aside, this portion of the interview is the one deemed ”most newsworthy.

In speaking about HealthCare reform and the costs:

"SCULLY: Yet, it all takes money. You know the numbers, $1.7 trillion debt, a national deficit of $11 trillion. At what point do we run out of money?
OBAMA: Well, we are out of money now. We are operating in deep deficits, not caused by any decisions we've made on health care so far. This is a consequence of the crisis that we've seen and in fact our failure to make some good decisions on health care over the last several decades."

Obama, in an attempt to sell his costly Health Care program, basically (paraphrasing) tells Scully that since the U.S. is out of money, why not print some more, because if we don’t implement Obama’s version of health care reform, we’ll be in worse shape 30 years down the road. After proclaiming the nation penniless, (pound foolish comes to mind), Obama notes that this is just “temporary” and indicates that in 30 years, the savings on health care reform will be in the trillions of dollars – $2 Trillion to be exact, which, when one looks at the current budget projections in trillions, is a drop in the proverbial bucket.

The balance of the interview is basic fluff, a question regarding David Axelrod (advisor to Obama and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick), calling Obama “pragmatic”, replete with Obama’s explanation of pragmatism and lastly, a question on his family life, the endless magazine covers, ad nauseum.

The fact that the President of the United States is making fiscal decisions based on 30 year projections, while admitting that the country is currently, “out of money”, is beyond Carteresque. Unemployment is at a 25 year high, with no apparent end in sight, and as inflation has begun to increase, with projection reaching double digits on some commodities, the wherewithal to pay for any of these programs is in question as the tax base is quickly eroding. As the employed and the employers becoming increasingly extinct due to an unprecedented assault on private industry by this administration, the comparatively few state jobs and state-owned industries will be unable to sustain the debt. At what point, one wonders, will common sense begin to trump politically driven ideology?
