From Politico.com, Ben Smith writes about an email the press received outlining a dress code for those journalists accompanying Obama on his visits to Jordan and Israel. (entire email available - click article title) The code, aimed specifically at the female members of the press, included: no nail polish, minimal jewelry and a directive to bring a suitable head covering. It is one thing to be “sensitive” to another culture, however, there are limits. The Obama campaign has reportedly sent Michelle back to the “kitchen”, the Drudge Report had a blurb on a NY Times story regarding Michelle and her stay at home status. After having survived a virtual make-over in order to look the part, Michelle is now being shoved into a closet in case she has anything relevant to say.
What do women have to look forward to in the next few years in an Obama administration? – A back seat.

This clothing mandate by Obama's camp to the female reporters and his sending his wife back into the "kitchen" is just another example of the sexist attitude of the Democrats. Just the way Hillary was treated when running for office should have every woman questioning why the males in the Democratic party are so hell bent taking away all the ground women have gained..
Actually, Laura Bush, Condi Rice, and Nancy Pelosi all wore head scarves when visiting the Middle East. It's a case of "when in Rome, do as the Romans do." It didn't start with Obama.
Truffles! (I'm a food fan) - Agreed, Women wearing head scarves did not begin with Obama, however, the head scarves played only a small, but irritating part in the "show" - just in case you missed that point
"when in Rome"? - that's terribly trite, don't you think? -
The entire "tone down the make-up, no jewelry, specific hem lengths - was for women only on the Obama 08 tour
re: "the head scarves" - check the archives, if you like - as Ms. Pelosi's "fasionable" head scarf was meaningless in light of the fact that she has done next to nothing re: women's issues. (except to continue the party's pro-abortion stance - which, favors men - not women).
Mrs. Bush, same thing - she was visiting Saudi Arabia, where women are not allowed to drive.
I don't care which party you're stumping for - it is about who's being sent back to the kitchen (in this case Michelle Obama - re: a new stay-at-home mom), it is most irksome.
