It is a point in fact, therefore, that he majority of American’s do not support the President on this issue. Enter Matt Drudge, of the Drudge Report (where the news gets its news), On August 3rd, The Drudge Report carried a story about a video of the President – advocating the elimination of private health insurance. The White House responded that the allegations were false, implying that the ”Drudge” was misleading.
The full video, however, is available on YouTube (and shown below). In it the President clearly makes the statement, contrary to what is posted on the White House Website here.
Meanwhile, in an attempt to sell Universal Health Care, the Congress, while on vacation, are holding town hall meetings; these meetings are to inform the public, and get information from the public, a Q & A so to speak. The meetings are unusually well-attended, and there is opposition to statements being made by these members of Congress vis a vis the so-called “health care reform”. Although, this blog understand that those individuals taking part in the Q&A at meeting held in Massachusetts are from all political parties, (as do those in attendance, and those whose neighbors are in attendance, and so on), the DNC (Democrat National Committee) and the head of the DNC (the President – Barak Obama), ran an internet ad (shown below) calling those who are not in favor of “Health Care Reform” – a mob.
One would think that the schoolyard tactics regarding the debate (bullying comes to mind) would have ended there – that the White House would have some shred of dignity – not so.
Since the dissent has grown out of control (by leftists standards – apparently should the shoe be on the other foot (left foot) a protests is fine and dandy, however, anyone else exercising their constitutional rights, (or the right foot) are part of a “mob”. Therefore, the White House is asking that, should you, John Q. Public, know of a neighbor who is in disagreement with the “Government”, they want you to let them know. From: www.whitehouse.gov:
Opponents of health insurance reform may find the truth a little inconvenient, but as our second president famously said, "facts are stubborn things."
Scary chain emails and videos are starting to percolate on the internet, breathlessly claiming, for example, to "uncover" the truth about the President’s health insurance reform positions.
In this video, Linda Douglass, the communications director for the White House’s Health Reform Office, addresses one example that makes it look like the President intends to "eliminate" private coverage, when the reality couldn’t be further from the truth.
For the record, the President has consistently said that if you like your insurance plan, your doctor, or both, you will be able to keep them. He has even proposed eight consumer protections relating specifically to the health insurance industry.
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
The first question that arises: “Is this some kind of a joke?”
The second: “How stupid do they think “we the people” are?”
First, the White House explains that the video’s (Drudge) do not show the President say anything negative regarding private insurance carries, yet, fail to show the entire video where he does. Secondly, the White House is busy tracking “scary emails and chain letters”, (instead of working to solve the current crop of problem, rather than trying to create new ones), and cannot possibly keep tract of them all – (over 53% of the populations, that is a lot of emails). Therefore, they are asking you – the public, to report on anyone that disagrees with Obama’s health care version – by sending an email directly to the White House.
If this wasn’t so ridiculously silly, it would sound similar to the ploy used by the Nazi’s in the late 1930’s, whereby they encouraged people to report on their neighbors, mothers, brothers, sisters, etc., and everyone knows how that ended. (Badly, just for the record).
Apparently, the emails are not coming in as expected, the White House has sent out the troops (Congress):
Barbara Boxer, on MSNBC noted that the “mob” participants are too well dressed, so therefore they must be part of a planned mob, in order to “hurt our President”.
Nancy Pelosi, took it a step forward, and stated that the protesters were carrying swastikas (Note to Nancy: if one were carrying a swastika it was not in support of the swastika, it was a symbol of the way the administration is handling the debate on health care – see paragraph on Nazi Germany).
In the final analysis, although there are those who find the methods being deployed by the White House as “insidious” in truth, they are juvenile, and frankly below the office. One has to then project how this campaign by the White House and those congressional members to stop the “misinformation”, looks to those all important unenrolled voters – (who are participating in large numbers – as part of the “mob”) –In a word - ridiculous. Does one vote or re-elect someone who is ridiculous? The answer is obvious. The numbers, for that is what this is really about, don’t add up. There are simply not enough enrolled Republicans or Democrats to sway an election – enter the independent voter – someone who does not think along partisan lines, watching a sitting president, as head of his political party, employ these types of tactics. It is childish - it is also political suicide.
Addendum: It would have been far better for the White House to issue a statement similar to: “This was said many years ago….it is not the Presidents intent now”, rather than to say “He did not say that!” – When – as shown below – “he clearly did”. The White House owes Matt Drudge and the rest of the “mob” an apology.

We first heard from the birthers, with their fake “birth certificate” in hand and with their fake outrage. These are the same under tones that you saw from Republicans during the confirmation hearings for Sonia Sotomayor, "you are not like us" or "you are too different", “you are not main stream”. And then they act surprised when people do not vote with them, they are lost, no core beliefs, too bad.
In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme religious right (people who love to push their beliefs on others while at the same time trying to take away their rights) and that’s who they need to focus on if they real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”.
It’s funny we hear Republicans say that they do not want “faceless bureaucrats” making medical decisions but they have no problem with “private sector” “faceless bureaucrats” daily declining medical coverage and financially ruining good hard working people. And who says that the “private sector” is always right, do we forget failures like Long-Term Capital, WorldCom, Global Crossing, Enron, Tyco, AIG and Lehman Brothers. Of course the federal government will destroy heathcare by getting involved, Oh but wait our military men and women and the Senate and Congress get the best heathcare in the world, and oh, that’s right, its run by our federal government. I can understand why some may think that the federal government will fail, if you look at the past eight years as a current history, with failures like the financial meltdown, Katrina, and the Walter Reed Scandal but the facts is they can and if we support them they will succeed.
Paul, I see left field and respectfully disagree with everything you've written. First, the so-called "birthers" - or those wondering if Obama's birth certificate is "legit" - frankly, had you read my blog on it, the last thing any sane person wants to do is challenge his standing at this point (given who would likely be the next president) - those are not "republican's" - more than likely they are independent or unenrolleds, or libertarian's who have questioned the legality of his birth certificate - just like the Democrat party questioned John McCain's - go figure.
As to health care - and the sudden outrage that the majority (read that again, majority) of American's don't want it tampered with, should be a pretty good indication (again as I pointed out) that it is not Republican's alone, or "the Religious right" or whatever talking point you've read today - it's regular people - who, get this, are mad as Hades because the likes of you are insinuating that they are "a mob" or "Republican's" or my favorite "Hired by Insurance Companies" - are you from Massachusetts? Do you work for a living and pay taxes and pay your own health care coverage (private?) - And you'd still want the rest of the country to suffer like we do?
Young man, there are political parties, and then there are regular people, some may vote along party lines, and then there are those who cross party lines from time to time - that's what is happening here in the healthcare debate and the White House Response is just stupid and childish.
That's my point of view, you are entitled to yours - but what on earth Health Care has to do with a Democrat Governor and Democrat Mayor, messing around for 3 or 4 days before deciding to give up "power" and allow federal aid in? - (re: Katrina and the fiasco that was made much worse by mismanagement) - Bush is long gone, he's in retirement. Obama, now he's in the hot seat. Different Party, Different Face, Different Day, Same......
Tina, you're right on. I've been in the Navy for 12 years and I am not happy with the so-called "perfect" health care system that is Tricare. Customer service is out the window and I feel a great deal of regret that I've spent taxpayer's money for health services. Tricare is riddled with inefficiencies and they absolutely ration types of care available. This is the first time I've read your blog and I'm hooked!
Just another angry tea-bag mobster-

Hello Navy! (My husband is attached to the Navy) - I understand where you are coming from - I also had worked (in a previous life) for a managed health care company - there are a multitude of ways in which the current system can be enchanced, cutting costs and improving services for everyone, all through using private contractors.
Thank you for the complement and especially for your service.
Sincerely,
Tina

How does shouting down to stop the conversation of the healthcare debate at town hall meetings, endears them to anyone. Especially when the organizations that are telling them where to go and what to do and say are Republicans political operatives, not real grassroots. How does shouting someone down or chasing them out like a lynch mob advanced the debate, it does not. So I think the American people will see through all of this and know, like the teabagger, the birthers, these lynch mobs types are just the same, people who have to resort to these tactics because they have no leadership to articulate what they real want. It’s easy to pickup a bus load of people who hate, and that’s all I been seeing, they hate and can’t debate. Too bad.
Speaking of articulating: proof your posts and you'll seem slightly less ignorant.
