McCain Takes the Lead Trumps Obama by 5 Points

In a Reuters/Zogby poll taken this past week, John McCain took an overall 5 point lead over Barack Obama for the first time and is leading Obama on the economy by 9 points. The impact from the Saddleback Civil Forum will certainly play a significant roll in upcoming polls. The forum, played on both CNN and Fox news over the weekend, shed new light on the way both candidates handle questions posed unscripted. McCain clearly led Obama in that forum and led to speculation that the upcoming debates would favor McCain.

With Russia threatening (Fox News and Matt Drudge both have breaking news today noting: “Russia Says Response to U.S. Missile Shield Deal with Poland Will Go Beyond Diplomacy”) use of force, McCain can only widen the gap in upcoming polls.

Dear Mr. E.,

Normally I thank people for commenting, however, in your case, a little chastisement with a bit of concern (for you) is in order.

Chastisement: Shame on you. This is not a comment - rather a smear tactic that is transparently desperate. The blog that you link to have just been slapped together – (posts through August only) and the “skeletons” you refer to are framed in the blog itself as rumors, with no links or references to articles to support the claims made – in other words, easily debunked as they are without bearing. Points, attacking a spouse doesn’t work, specifically as it is founded on rumor; Ohio – DHL is indeed a global corporation – that said, they are also a franchise – which means that each outfit is owned and operated locally; Paris Hiltons farce did more for McCain that you can imagine - YouTube hits re: his campaign ads were tops on the You Tube “chart”, surpassing any other candidate. The tired Bush III and ties to lobbyists is about all you have (which by the by, hasn’t worked yet, so? Frankly, every politician has ties to lobbyists, their children are lobbyists, they husbands and wives are lobbyists, and it goes to both sides of the aisle, some more than others (one San Francisco Speaker comes to mind). McCain is not Bush, not even close – anyone that does even marginal homework knows that bit just won’t work. McCain is squeaky clean – for someone who has served this country in multiple capacities for that length of time, his record is impeccable – he is a moderate – and, although not the first choice of radical conservatives, his appeal is across the board, and he stands by his decisions. What you have is a candidate that came out of nowhere - one that has been manufactured, rather than tested. Articles from the Illinois Press are available on line, most so new they aren’t even in the paid newspaper archives, that can back up every single miss-step that candidate has taken in the very short time spent in public service (comparatively speaking). The trail is easy to trace, there is no need for rumors or blog posts without references - there are however, facts (posted here and elsewhere).

Concern: The blog, Degrees, is my opinion and commentary regarding the facts that are available – as it should be in any case – with links and supporting evidence to support that opinion – it is up to the reader to take what they will and then make up their own mind – The blog that you reference, well, it is what it is. The problem with individuals who are so heavily vested in a candidate that they will do or say anything in order to support the same, is psychological, rather than political. The last election and subsequent results were a boon to the mental health industry. Whether a candidate of choice wins or looses, is of little consequence in the grand scheme of things – as a nation, we should agree to disagree – on facts, then take results in stride, and dependent upon the result, continue to work, or work harder for those whose ideology most aligns with our own – not spend three days in bed, and two years in therapy (referring to BDS.) It is clear that, as the anonymous owner of a blog (with no profile), are either a paid blogger for a specific campaign, or an individual who is too vested in their candidate – if it is the later I suggest you seek help.
