A new poll released by CBS suggests that a majority of Americans believe God had a hand in creating humanity – with 37 percent believing in direct intervention in creating humankind, 24 percent believing in a combined Darwinian theory – with God’s guiding hand, and a growing portion of the nation believing that God had no hand in the process whatsoever –performing the evolutionary theory. The poll was conducted by YouGov. (CBSLocal Washington).

CBS also noted the teaching of creationism was approved by 40 percent, while 32 percent were opposed and the balance was unsure (CBS). One has to understand the in any basic science course, regardless of which level of education, primary, secondary or higher education, the Theory of Evolution is taught as fact. When on applies logic to the concept of a Theory, one understands that it is a proposal that a specific set of data might have occurred, rather than cold hard fact. Therefore, as there is little proof that the Theory of Evolution is standing on solid ground; one might argue that the Study of Creationism holds as much water as Darwin’s theory. The difference, one is based on religion, the other on a scientific theory – therefore, if one were an atheist, but applying logic, the only conclusion that would be feasible in this debate between two schools – they are equally unexplained.

If one is religious in any form, and regardless of their religious bent, the fact that God had a hand in the creation of mankind is prevalent. They might entertain a theory, but understand it as a theory – not fact. On the other hand, those so opposed to any sort of belief in religion (organized or otherwise) will tend to cry foul more loudly, as God forbid, religion would ever step foot in a public square! This is regardless of the fact that they rely heavily on a theory to explain their very existence! Of course, the public square and religion in the United States is misunderstood completely by those who also eschew the existence of God in the first place. The U.S. Constitution does not state that there should be no religion, rather protects the individual’s right to practice their religion, and prevents the establishment of a national religion. It amazes when those who claim to be atheist, assert their first amendments rights as it pertains to religion – as they have claim to have no religion whatsoever. What they do have is the right not to have a religion, rather than the right to remove other religions from the public square. That would also be, logically, unconstitutional, as the removal of a Christmas Tree, or Menorah, from the town square, would prevent those who practice said religions from freely practicing their first amendment rights.

The same argument can be applied in the public schools, especially as regards to teaching two versions of creationism – one Biblically based, for those who believe, and one that is a theory, for those who choose not to believe in anything.

What this poll tells us with the underlying emphasis on religion versus secular theory, is the fact that this nation, like no other, is a tolerant nation, protected by a document that has stood the test of time, and guarantees the liberty to do as one chooses, as long as one does not trample on the rights of others.

Health Care – Republicans lead in polling on trust by 44% to 41% (Democrats)
(The President’s Health Care Reform Plan is currently favored by 42% of the population, down from prior polls)

On the Economy – by 6 points

On Education – 41% to 38%

On Social Security – 43% to 39%

On Taxes – 51% to 35%

War in Iraq – Tied

National Security – 47 to 43% (a decrease)

Ethics and Corruption – 31% to 34% (Democrats)

Abortion – 46% to 36%

This survey was based on a sample of 1,000 likely voters.

Looking at the issues that Republics (i.e. conservatives) hold the lead – several are related to and include the economy, such as taxes, social security, and health care reform (the social aspects aside, this is an economic issue) – One would expect the Republican party to come out strong on Abortion and National Security, but surprisingly Education, which has been owned for decades by the Democrat Party, is now in the hands of Republicans – the question is why? Republicans are more free-market in areas of education, with a belief that should there be competition, the end result would be better teachers, and higher levels of education achieved by the general populace, as it would apply across the board (See Mike Huckabee’s record on education while Govenor of Arkansas – outstanding.) That said, the Democrats backed by the powerful teachers unions, may have had a play in the numbers change, as most American’s now consider themselves as conservatives. The ethics and corruption category should be owned by both parties, and has been, therefore, this one, from a reasonable perspective, is moot.

What is driving these numbers? A move to the left by the Obama administration, (centrist on the Campaign trail) while in concert with the leading Progressives in both Houses, is leading the general public (those that now consider themselves conservative) to brand the entire party. Artillery kills cat in New Jersey Home, from the Star Ledger. A piece of artillery crashed through a Jefferson Township home on Friday, landing on a child’s bed and taking out the family cat. Of course, this miss-firing could have resulted in a fire, or caused severe injury to someone living in the house, but the headline’s focus on the fate of the family cat is somewhat interesting. One may want to look into protective gear for dogs and cats as a sound investment.

April Blizzard in New England

In other noteworthy news, two Massachusetts men tried to hi-jack an above ground swimming pool in nearby Granby, CT. from the Stamford Advocate Apparently, the plan was a to disassembled the pool, transport it and assembled it over the state line. Point of order: it is April in the northeast and temperatures cannot be expected to rise to pool warmth until July. This crime is a direct result of global warming theory taught in schools nationwide as fact.

From ABC2Baltimore A Baltimore high school teacher was brutally attacked in the classroom. The attack was videotaped and then placed on My Space by her enterprising students. Who is to blame? Apparently the teacher – she used a “trigger” word. What is a “trigger word”? When you are about to be attacked and use language to try to dissuade your attacker, i.e. threat of any kind to insure your safety, and that attacker ignores you and beats you to a pulp – if you are a teacher, it is your fault.

Mind-boggling.

This story follows on the heels of other student videotaped beatings across the country. One might ponder what could be done to solve the problem? Should teachers be sanctioned not to use “trigger” words? Should film classes be instituted in all schools so that these would be “Fellini’s” might actually make a living someday outside of the usual fast food establishment? Or should someone, anyone, slap the following people “upside the head”: School administration, parents of these children and the children themselves.

Never mind filing charges – that seems to be the glory these well educated public school students seek. Here’s a thought, publicly humiliate them: Make them wear signs front and back while attending classes for the balance of the school year (A giant handwritten apology would be appropriate.) Have them sit and write 100 times: “I won’t beat up my teacher, classmate, or school janitor and post a video to “name a site”. Make sure they are placed in actual detention and include community service, (while wearing the sign) – Make their parents do the same - and videotape, upload and distribute through you-tube. One might find this new fad disappear quickly. Additional benefit, this would keep the ACLU busy filing ridiculous lawsuits per normal.

Could it be the elite attitude that pervades our public schools (teachers are the elite, students are the masses) could be tied to the elite attitude of the press when it comes to educating the pubic? From Reuters
Obama under Fire for Remarks made at San Francisco Fundraiser

Once again, some budding "Fellini" at an Obama fundraiser wanted to preserve the words of the same, believing these utterings to be words of wisdom: In speaking about regular people in Pennsylvania, Mr. Obama noted the following:

"You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them," Obama, an Illinois senator, said.
"And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations," he said.
What he fails to comprehend along with his San Francisco friends, is that the people he is describing as bitter, clinging to guns and religion, are real Americans!! According to Obama, one that clings to religion is bitter, and one that takes advantage of and supports the second amendment is also bitter. If someone is interested in protecting our national border, they are anti-immigrant and if one does not want to see an influx of foreign goods, and a decrease in American production, they are anti-trade! The man’s an elitist idiot and he has plenty of company – the press.

It begs the question, how smart are the “elite” of this country? Is it any wonder our children (or those educated by the elite for the past 35 plus years) are stealing pools in the middle of April, beating their teachers and classmates, and proudly posting the results to social websites, turning out in droves for inexperienced, yet decidedly charismatic, Al Jezeera adored, candidates, and incidentally firing rockets at family pets (assuming the military is recruiting from the general population).

Spring is in the Air!

Somewhere. The northeast is blanketed in snow. There is little new in the way of news. Nancy Pelosi continues to disappoint, along with so many of her peers on both sides of the aisle. Politics in Massachusetts remain the status qua and frankly, one becomes bored with all of the sameness. Perhaps with the coming of spring (whenever that arrives), there will be renewed hope that one of these politicians will come forward and actually offer their constituents a bit of unheard of honesty. As the media (general media) continues to pound home a specific agenda message (as if the general public were too stupid not to see through the facade), turning to any news broadcast has become a Chinese torture test. Tuning out, for the moment, would appear to be the best choice to allow ones sanity to remain intact.

Why? Guts, motivation, intelligence and proven track records.

Problems? Of course, bushels of skeletons abound in both closets. That said, is there anyone coming out of the era who is free from guilt of some sort?

Question? Is there anyone else (combination) who has the experience to deal with the mess that has been created in congress and the senate?

Granted this mess was created by the very citizens of this United States.

When one third of the students in the public schools in dc are found to be illiterate, is it any wonder that we are faced with this current do nothing but investigate ones political adversaries majority in a frenzy of revenge motivated sessions? Where are all the better ideas? Why is it that a small group of aging hippies, elite media executives and wealthy socialists have been allowed to make such a sham of the day-to-day business of the United States government? It is safe to assume, that the socialist driven educational system in our country has produced (over the past 30 years) individuals incapable of original thinking and quite able to pull a lever in a voting booth (using the antiquated imagery)?

Is there hope? Certainly, there is always hope. One just has to sift through the drivel until the hope arrives in the form of a one-two punch team of savvy politico's who have the best interest of the country in mind.
