After having read reviews from several sources on Stephen K. Bannon’s, documentary, “The Undefeated”, and being able to watch the film today at the AMC Lowes theatres in Plainville, CT at the 1:00 PM show, there was only one phrase that comes to mind – Game changer.
The fact that the film itself is not cinematically perfect, with a great deal of hokey imagery, the content of interviews, and historical film footage is gripping. The final stages of the films narrative, with Andrew Brietbart, Tammy Bruce and Mark Levin, is compelling, so much so, that when the theater erupted in applause at the end, it was not surprising. What was surprising? At 1 pm in the afternoon, at a theater in Plainville (which is New Britain/Hartford, CT, which, upon arrival, my seventeen year old noted that there was a handful of “older people”, would end up almost full.
By any stretch of the imagination, this blogger is no film critic, and obviously, a conservative feminist who would, naturally, be in favor of the subject, however, it was the film’s content specifically, the news footage that one came out of Alaska, pre-McCain which made this individual a “believer”. As a Reagan Democrat, Sarah Palin is no Ronald Reagan, despite the fact that perhaps, more than any other politician of our time, she deserves the comparison – she is – simply – Sarah Palin and one can envision, thirty years hence, other politicians trying to out-Palin one another.

Public Service Message – Tea Party Express Rally – Comes to Hartford, CT, September 11

The Tea Party Express will be making a stop in Hartford, CT on September 11th, prior to their March on Washington DC, September 12th. Hartford is easily accessible from both Western and Central Massachusetts, for more information visit: Tea Party Express.org.
Those attending past events include people from all political party affiliations; the basic premise of the organization and those attending is to bring attention to the U.S. Constitution and the fact that it may not be currently followed to the letter. It is also a reminder to politician’s that they hold these positions, simply because the people hired them – the message – they can be fired as well.
It should be interesting to see media coverage (if any) of the event taking place, in Hartford (by local media), as well as the large event in Washington DC on the 12th.

New Poll Shows Trouble in the Nutmeg State for Chris Dodd - Other 2010 DNC Trouble Spots
A poll conducted by Quinnipiac and Released on March 10 , shows long time Democrat Senator Chris Dodd with his “Fannie” in a sling. In a match up with a virtual unknown Republican congressman, Rob Simmons, Dodd is running 1 point behind. Dodd, who has racked up unfavorable ratings due to problems with mortgage issues, (at least that is what is assumed vis a vis this poll), believes this is a temporary set-back. However, voter registration in Connecticut State resembles that of neighboring Massachusetts, where independent or unaffiliated voters are in the majority.
One has to recall that this is the same state that recently gave the boot to New York Times Endorsed Ned Lamont in favor of Lieberman who is viewed as a centrist. Lieberman, ousted by his own Party, ran as an independent. It was the independent vote, with the help of the minority Republican Party that put Lieberman back in the saddle.
What is most interesting is that, this early in the game, a candidate unknown outside of his own district, will beat an incumbent, regardless of party. Should the RCN kick it up a notch (and there is reason to believe Michael Steele will put a focus on the Northeast), then Chris Dodd and Harry Reid can spend some quality time together in the not too distant future.
Other Democrat Senate Seats in play, but not necessarily of interest at this point due to lack of any data;
Blanche Lincoln, AR, Barbara Boxer, CA, (Logic dictates she should hold that seat as long as Bob Byrd has held his), Michael Bennet CO, Daniel Iouye HI, Roland Burris ILL (this one should be fun), Evan Bayh, IN (see Boxer), Barbara Mikulski, MD (see Burris), Kristen Gillibrand, NY (see Burris), Chuck Schumer, NY (See Boxer), Byron Dorgan, ND, Ron Wyden, OR, Pat Leahy, VT, Patty Murary, WA, and the leftist of the Senate (seriously), Feingold, WI.
In a related article by the LA Times entitled: “GOP sees its 2010 chances improve -- thanks to Obama”, the point: vacancies left by Senators taking Cabinet positions have left an opening for the GOP, and further notes that should the economy not improve, the GOP will be given an added boost.
The economy, although some analysts are hoping for a 2009 rebound (calling a 5% increase in one day of trading a "bear market" may be premature), may not turn around quite as quickly, and burgeoning Federal Programs, bloated budgets and regulation being put into place should push the rate of inflation higher than the current unemployment rate. (A Jimmy Carter scenario). It is, as of this writing, too late for Democrat incumbents to battle history, and the increasingly impatient general public, who demands instant results (rightly or wrongly ), leaving any incumbent now affiliated with Donkey brand in a position where they either play nice with conservatives and vote for fiscal restraint or stand in danger of losing their seat (Again, see Bayh one of three Democrats to oppose the massive pork-ridden Omnibus spending bill.) Either certain Democrats are horrified the concept of tax and spend, or an election is looming. Voting against massive spending at this point, may be too little too late. After all, 2010 races were being planned across the country immediately following the 2008 races (and possibly before), events in 2009 will shape the races in 2010, and should the economy in 2010 improve only slightly, the probability of shift in Washington party power is increased.

Saturday Morning Musings
Artillery kills cat in New Jersey Home, from the Star Ledger. A piece of artillery crashed through a Jefferson Township home on Friday, landing on a child’s bed and taking out the family cat. Of course, this miss-firing could have resulted in a fire, or caused severe injury to someone living in the house, but the headline’s focus on the fate of the family cat is somewhat interesting. One may want to look into protective gear for dogs and cats as a sound investment.

In other noteworthy news, two Massachusetts men tried to hi-jack an above ground swimming pool in nearby Granby, CT. from the Stamford Advocate Apparently, the plan was a to disassembled the pool, transport it and assembled it over the state line. Point of order: it is April in the northeast and temperatures cannot be expected to rise to pool warmth until July. This crime is a direct result of global warming theory taught in schools nationwide as fact.

From ABC2Baltimore A Baltimore high school teacher was brutally attacked in the classroom. The attack was videotaped and then placed on My Space by her enterprising students. Who is to blame? Apparently the teacher – she used a “trigger” word. What is a “trigger word”? When you are about to be attacked and use language to try to dissuade your attacker, i.e. threat of any kind to insure your safety, and that attacker ignores you and beats you to a pulp – if you are a teacher, it is your fault.
Mind-boggling.
This story follows on the heels of other student videotaped beatings across the country. One might ponder what could be done to solve the problem? Should teachers be sanctioned not to use “trigger” words? Should film classes be instituted in all schools so that these would be “Fellini’s” might actually make a living someday outside of the usual fast food establishment? Or should someone, anyone, slap the following people “upside the head”: School administration, parents of these children and the children themselves.

Never mind filing charges – that seems to be the glory these well educated public school students seek. Here’s a thought, publicly humiliate them: Make them wear signs front and back while attending classes for the balance of the school year (A giant handwritten apology would be appropriate.) Have them sit and write 100 times: “I won’t beat up my teacher, classmate, or school janitor and post a video to “name a site”. Make sure they are placed in actual detention and include community service, (while wearing the sign) – Make their parents do the same - and videotape, upload and distribute through you-tube. One might find this new fad disappear quickly. Additional benefit, this would keep the ACLU busy filing ridiculous lawsuits per normal.
Could it be the elite attitude that pervades our public schools (teachers are the elite, students are the masses) could be tied to the elite attitude of the press when it comes to educating the pubic? From Reuters
Obama under Fire for Remarks made at San Francisco Fundraiser
Once again, some budding "Fellini" at an Obama fundraiser wanted to preserve the words of the same, believing these utterings to be words of wisdom: In speaking about regular people in Pennsylvania, Mr. Obama noted the following:
"You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them," Obama, an Illinois senator, said.
"And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations," he said.
What he fails to comprehend along with his San Francisco friends, is that the people he is describing as bitter, clinging to guns and religion, are real Americans!! According to Obama, one that clings to religion is bitter, and one that takes advantage of and supports the second amendment is also bitter. If someone is interested in protecting our national border, they are anti-immigrant and if one does not want to see an influx of foreign goods, and a decrease in American production, they are anti-trade! The man’s an elitist idiot and he has plenty of company – the press.

Out of the following list of publications with an online presence, only one chose to run this particular story, and it was more an explanation of Obama’s remarks (insults) rather than the righteous indignation it should have been. These are all, every one, a Pennsylvania news source, and it is fortunate for the residents of the state that there are other news outlets, otherwise they might not know how Obama considers them unfortunate for being so religious and racists (anti-immigrant) and ignorant (anti-trade)

It begs the question, how smart are the “elite” of this country? Is it any wonder our children (or those educated by the elite for the past 35 plus years) are stealing pools in the middle of April, beating their teachers and classmates, and proudly posting the results to social websites, turning out in droves for inexperienced, yet decidedly charismatic, Al Jezeera adored, candidates, and incidentally firing rockets at family pets (assuming the military is recruiting from the general population).
