Trust President Obama? – CNN/ORC – Public – Not So Much – 1 in 4 Believe He Can Manage the Job – It is Not the President’s Fault – the American Public did this to themselves – in 204 and 2016 – Verify – then Trust

A new CNN Poll is out on the Trust in and Job Approval of President Obamaand he is well under water with 53% of American’s finding the President to be untrustworthy, and perhaps worse, only 1 in 4 believe he is competent.

The question one might want to ask is when did the “public” decide that enough was enough? – With approval ratings in 2012 hitting the 40 plus mark in only 10 states (Gallup’s Trust in Institutions), the fact that the public granted the second coming of Jimmy Carter a second chance is mind-boggling. Yes, he’s a nice guy and his intent and vision is not in malice, however – that’s not a reason to allow a second term.

Between the debacle of Obama Care – now called “The Affordable Health Care Act”, the Nuclear Option pulled by the Government Puppet Master, Harry Reid (D-NV) – or the one that actually runs the country, and his new dealings with Iran (See Jimmy Carter, and multiply X 10), there is a palpable angst within the ranks of the so-called low-information voters. Those who are not in that category may be watching extra episodes of “Preppers”.

In 1980, it was not so much that Jimmy Carter was not a nice guy; everyone knew he was a nice guy, the problem was – he was no capable of running more than a peanut farm. In 2008, ironically, we hired a nice guy, who was adept at organizing communities. Both men had zero military experience, managerial experience, or any practical experience at all – and we, the people, gave them the reigns to the most powerful and economically stable countries in the world – which they both promptly drove over a cliff. It is fair to say that they both inherited problems, each President inherits problems, including Clinton and Reagan – but, unlike the aforementioned who quickly hired the right people, and cooperated with those that had a light bulb shining over their heads - Carter and Obama danced to a tune of a very different drummer.

It’s not their fault at all – it is our fault.

To those who blindly followed the media, shame on you, to those who stayed home and did not vote in “Mittens” or “McCain” – (the horrible alternatives, understandably), in the millions, those who would have sealed the election for Romney if they could just get past their fear of a Religious Cult and or their distaste of “Rhino’s”, we’d not be in such a mess today and the Republic would be better off. The bonus would not have to watch a painful realization by the American Public that the Leader of the Free World might not qualify for a job at the local Denny’s.

So, there you have it, nice guy, in over his head from the beginning and he belongs to all of us for the next three (3) years. Suggestions write to the President and tell him to get new advisors (preferably of the Reagan/Clinton administrations – heck the Bush administration – pick one), tell him not to campaign but to talk to the American Public and actually restore confidence instead of blaming every Republican, Unicorn and Bigfoot. Maybe he just needs a bit of moral support, who knows – but he’s ours, and we are stuck with him. The Republican’s, who let the RNC run campaigns into the ground by hiring RHINO’s, well, they are just as much to blame. Before babies are thrown out with the bath water, (see 2013 local elections where fine Democrats and Republicans lost Mayor’s offices and similar seats due to being incumbents), perhaps, a bit of honesty with the American Public about what one really is concerned with (rather than the Party to which one belongs) would be helpful. Ted Cruz, much maligned, is honest, so is Rand Paul – and I’m fairly certain one might find a first term Senator or Governor not tied to the apron strings of a national party on both sides of the aisle who also speaks from the hip. Whoever gets the next job from “we the people” better have some management experience – They are going to be taking on the mess of a lifetime.

Expect the President to be in a freefall (see George W. Bush) from now until he hands over the reins to the next President.

Libya – U.S. Ambassador – Staffers- Killed in Embassy Takeover – Egypt Explodes– Movie the Excuse – Shades of 79'

Attacks on the American Embassy in Egypt - image CBS News

This morning fromReuters: The U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other embassy staff were killed in a rocket attack on Tuesday in the Libyan city of Benghazi, a Libyan official said.
It was not clear if the ambassador was in his car or the Libyan consulate when the attack occurred.
"The Libyan ambassador and three staff members were killed when gunmen fired rockets at them," the official in Benghazi told Reuters.

A film produced by the U.S. State Department introducing the U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, is shown below. The naiveté with which the U.S. approaches the region is evidenced in the short film – with Stevens pointing out how our nation allows freedom of (and he should have noted “from”) religion. That is something foreign to the Middle East, where theocracy is the main form of government in Iran, as well as newly formed governments in Egypt and Libya where the Muslim Brotherhood has a strong hand in the governments, or even our allies such as Saudi Arabia where the law is based on the Koran, and women’s rights are non-existent. (Stoning is the preferred method of dealing with immodest women and the LBGT community in the Middle East.)

There was also violence in Egypt, coverage of the day’s events by CBS News – catch the U.S. Response at the end of the report.

Apparently, the excuse for the eruption of violence, was the release of an anti-Muslim film by a group in California, the film had been released to little or no commercial success. The premise of the movie: a ridiculous and badly hatched movie that depicts Mohammad as some sort of nut – violent and erotic – in other words a parody. Fine if one is in the U.S. and free speech, no matter how poorly grafted and/or distasteful, is tolerated – but in Libya and Egypt that is enough “proof” of “anti-Muslim rhetoric” to attack the entire U.S., take over their embassies and kill Americans!

Perhaps, just perhaps, if every time someone of little or no import, a cartoonist, or even journalist, that joked or lampooned, the Pope, was met by millions of angry Catholics storming into the streets, burning the nations flag, and murdering staffer, the cartoonist, or whoever they pleased, this would make sense somehow – but – the only way this does make sense is that once a Theocracy has a foothold in a nation, and their population is undereducated or radical enough to believe a shoddy film produced in the U.S. is representative of all of the U.S., it allows those few at the top of the food chain to gain a firm foothold in the nation – while laying the blame on the “Great Satan” (i.e. the U.S.A.) for the Muslim worlds short-comings. The aforementioned provides the protagonist (General, Ayatollah, et al) an an instant riot, or takeover of an embassy where those staffers are sadly attempting to help these people.

Shades of the Ayatollah and his return to Iran! (See Jimmy Carter, his naive support for the Ayatollah’s return to Iran, and the subsequent U.S. embassy takeover, deaths and hostage situation in Iran in that period.)

Viewing, with a bit of sanity, any organized religion, one finds that the founders made decisions based on attracting a wide range of followers, that there were military, political and, let’s face it, colonization goals involved, with a startling few of those who were basically against such a sham. The fact that most of the Popes were more interested at one point in history in consolidating The Italian State, rather than in promoting Catholicism and its core values is a well known fact. Martin Luther rebelled over what can only be called the “purgatory tax” or a way to fund a war by making up a place called Purgatory, and then charging individuals a sum of cash to insure that they or their relatives did not end up there after death. That worked in the middle ages. Also, it is not a stretch that a general, bent on taking power and controlling a large section of the Middle East, whose plans encompassed the entire world at the time, would band tribes of Bedouins together, write a book, suddenly get “religion” – which was built on the backs of two of the prominent religions of the day – all in order to give the peoples a common thread to bind them together and consulate his power. He accomplished that task – His name was Mohammed. Therefore, today one has Catholics that pray for the souls of the dead trapped in an imaginary purgatory, and Muslims who want to kill infidels to gain entrance into Paradise, and in the meantime, convert the entire planet to the true religion by war and conquest.

(All of the above available in library books, history books, and college course in upper level theocracy and history disciplines – or they were at one time.)

What is mind-boggling is the total lack of coverage of this event by local affiliates on the 11 o’clock news hour last evening. The story broke yesterday afternoon, and when one has an embassy takeover and murder of staff on the anniversary of 9/11, then that is of some interest one would think, to some of the individuals watching?

Perhaps those in control of the breaking news segment passed in this area due to the fact that the very murder of an American in any nation for any reason, might be justified if a flag were involved – No joke, take the City of Amherst, MA for example, where U.S. flags may be flown on 9/11 every 5 days, so that the community won’t be upset by the controversial symbol of the flag!!! - (See Coverage here from local NBC Affiliate: WWLP Springfield. Of course, this is the University of Massachusetts, where one can become a certified SEIU Organizer – the only University that has an advance degree program in - Labor Studies Graduates go on to make hefty salaries, on the backs of union workers, while organizing protests in placed like Wisconsin – Therefore, not reporting on a major event involving a U.S. Embassy, and the death of the Ambassador at the hands of Muslim protestors, might not be considered, normal! Or perhaps, just perhaps, those networks would prefer to keep this one shoved under a rug somewhere.

Consider there are obvious comparison that would and should be made regarding the poor foreign policy choices coming from the Administration and the screamingly similar policy during the Carter Administration. Whereby any honest Historian will admit that the two have too many distinct parallels. To discover: one might read articles from 1977 to 1980 and find more than a few decisions that are comparable.

This act of violence, murder and mayhem in the name of Allah, will of course, go unanswered, as it was in 1980. Or it may be “strongly condemned” by the U.S. Administration. It must be seriously tiring for Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State to tow the party line in these instances. One can hazard to guess, as the number of 3 am calls have piled up over the years and that those individuals claiming to be fighting for Democracy while installing a Theocracy in the Middle East would not have dared to do so under a Clinton administration. It sends a message to the millions of baby boomers who got out the vote for Reagan in 1979, and are "very enthusiastic" regarding this years election.

Historically Speaking - Polling and Outcomes – Nov. 3, 1980 – Carter-Reagan Polls – Too Close to Call! Result – Reagan takes 49 States in Landslide

Screenshot of Google News Archive, Sarasota Herald Tribune, eve of 1980 Election - Polls too Close to Call

With growing skepticism the public is watching polling data that has depicted the 2012 Presidential Race as too close to call for months. The usual post convention bounce that a candidate receives has not materialized (Obama takes slim post-convention lead over Romney: Reuters/Ipsos poll), and there is much talk about the fact that polling is skewed in favor of one party over another by “over-sampling” Democrats by 8 points (Examiner.com).

The economy remains in tatters with unemployment at remaining at 8.1% heading into September, and a net job creation of 96,000 jobs – nationwide(Associated Press via Yahoo News), which begs the questions, why are poll numbers so close? It may be that polls are skewed; it may be that individuals have not made up their minds (5%) or it may be that polling data, even polling data days before an election, pull random samples that, for whatever reason, are not representative of the general population. Of course, there are those reports of harassment of pollsters who show too large a lead over a challenger (See Daily Caller on Gallup Polling).

History, as “they” say, appears to repeat itself. President Obama as been compared to President Jimmy Carter since the first year of his presidency, based on two principles: his inexperience, and his policies. The almost eerie comparison continued during the 2012 Democrat Convention, with the party platform and call for a second term based on “not enough time to right the economy” the same as the 1980 Democrat Convention and appeal to the nation. The kicker: Polling data in 1980, the day before the general election in November, suggested that the race was “too close to call”, by two major pollsters (Harris and Gallup) Sarasota Herald Tribune: “Final Gallup Harris Poll Shows Reagan with Slim Lead Over Carter”. That’s worth repeating, slim lead, the final Gallup 47-44%, or too close to call.

The results: ”Voters Elect Reagan in Landslide Win” It was billed as too close to call….(Mid-Cities Daily News). In fact, Reagan won 49 of 50 states, the exception being the home state of his running mate Walter Mondale. For years, Carter’s approval ratings from Gallup were below 50%. Comparatively, the past three state by state Gallup Approval ratings show President Obama with a dozen states or less with an approval rating just at 50% or more. The latest gives the President 13: WA, CA, MN, IL, NY(55%), MA (54.7%), CT (53.2%), DE, NJ (53.3), MD (54.5%), DC (82.9%!), and RI(57.8%), HI (high 50’s) , VT (55.5). The states not noted have an approval under 51% (between 50.0 to 50.8). Therefore, all states with the exception of DC, and RI are outside the margin of error. If one were to suggest that there was no connection to the approval rating and the polling data on election match-ups – then one would be – delusional.

Therefore, using this particular model, and giving the 50% plus states to the President, the Electoral College vote count becomes: (CNN Interactive Electoral College Map) –gives the President 185 to Romney’s 353 Electoral College votes. Although still early in the contest, and only projections by pundits both professional and non, one can hardly predict an outcome no matter which data one is using. That said, the comparisons are striking, and, as an Historian, it is not without some interest that this race is shaping up as it has – down to the tiny details.

Move over Gloria Allred, Cain hires Top Legal Gun – Specialty - Defamation and Libel – On Allegations – Does The Electorate Care? Or Even Know?

Herman Cain wear that Cowboy Hat well (compared to some other politicians - Clint Eastwood Approved GOP Presidential Candidate, Herman Cain

A Reuters article released yesterday and getting little play in the media” Cain defamation lawyer hired to monitor accusations” should have those who would “lynch” Cain in the Court of Public Opinion thinking twice. Cain, throughout his career (which is well documented) and in personal tomes (he’s written a few books) has prided himself on image, specifically that of a man of integrity and one who values his family, specifically his wife, Gloria and their children. Therefore, it is not surprising that this man, who may be a political novice, and may have not pleased the media by the manner in which his political team responded to the allegations of sexual harassment brought by two anonymous and two not-so-anonymous but dubious characters, has hired one of the top layers who would have the wherewithal to get to the so-called bottom of this, determine if there was any intent to slander his client (Cain) and then bring a screaming civil suit.

Frankly, when a man of character is impinged upon, even if a suit took years, and there was sufficient proof that these allegations were patently false, then these women had better find the means to pay damages. The media and those who would see either Cain’s campaign derailed by false allegations/and or those would be more interested in keeping Cain in the spotlight over false allegations, while something else of political import might be taking place (i.e. taking the heat off someone in a position of power – care to guess?) would be responsible for the pickle these ladies will find themselves.

If they are false allegations, and they are brought to court (and it won’t matter the time-frame as far as this is concerned) the smart money would be on a slew of retractions, hazy memory and avoidance of the court, in order to protect oneself from perjury. Good for Cain, he is not only standing up publicly denying the allegations as patently false, the man is being smart – proactive – taking the steps to insure that he, or any other candidate for that matter, will not face baseless allegations for political purposes – again. He has taken the moral high road.

Putting aside that Cain’s actions to date, are to maintain his stellar reputation, does the general public really care, and or do they even know for that matter that allegations have been made?

Dick Morris, who came to the public arena after working diligently to reelect one Bill Clinton, (not once, but several times, from the Governor’s office in Arkansas to the Presidency) and who understands which way the wind blows with polls (such as polls are) also spoke to the Cain allegations in an article on his website www.dickmorris.com

“I learned something important from my polling in the Lewinsky scandal. While the political world and the media were focused on the narrow question of who was right, Clinton or Special Prosecutor Kenneth Starr, most voters opted for a third choice: "We don't care. We don't want to hear more about this. This is no way to run a government or choose a president." Some resented the public discussion of oral sex, noting that their children were watching. They didn't want to hear it.

So it is with the accusations against Herman Cain. We are mired in the worst economic condition in eighty years and will not tolerate more talk about who invited whom up to their room and for what. We don't care….”

Mr. Morris could have taken that a few steps further, only those who are heavily vested in the current process of debate and the general election have even taken notice. When looking at the total population of those who watch the GOP debates, as well as read a newspaper or watch even their local news (past the first 5 minutes when they get a brief synopsis of what took place), or national coverage, it is minuscule in comparison to the rest of the voting public. Take this little test: ask a group of voters (or voter aged individuals) that are not as “avid” a political junkie as oneself might be – and one will find that perhaps one of the ten is even aware of “something they might have heard about Herman Cain”, but cannot remember what it was, and if they have seen Cain, they are, this is priceless, not sure which party he may represent – if they even know who he is – five in ten have no idea. The kicker, making Dick Morris so very right, when told about allegations against Cain, the reaction is the same, so?

Granted this is coming from Massachusetts, however, Cain may owe Bill Clinton a debt of gratitude. Instead of Clinton coming off as a cad (and he did) he came off as some sort of hero, especially to the younger generation, and since the economy was good, well, the rest of his shenanigans did not matter.

Now, Cain is viewed as a novice politician who has not been in Government (huge plus), to those who know of him, yet may not know (because they do not read, nor listen to a news organization due to plain old apathy and times constraints, or mistrust of the media) are hard-pressed to believe the allegations. He may lose a few points in the polls to those conservatives who still follow the hang them in the court of public opinion regardless of the facts, in order to maintain the pristine appearance of the GOP (that ship has sailed, but they are quite unaware). Whoever though this would hurt Cain, may have overplayed a hand or two, in the long run – this primary and the general will be won by those who are savvy enough to do two things. Run opposition ads that are to the point, humorous and on message, without going negative. Advertising that is upbeat and pro job growth, and yes, Reaganesque, will win the day – the ads, even those ads from PACS that candidates can’t control, which go strongly negative, and even perhaps bring up allegations of sexual misconduct, will destroy that candidate – Cain, is the perfect candidate, because he has no dubious government record to defend, however, he has a personal record, and a corporate record which are exemplary – plus a compelling life story.

Regardless of who is the eventual nominee, (there are as of today, in this mind, two possibilities only – Gingrich/Cain as time has run out). Gingrich, to make a point, will be in the exact position as Cain, he has been away from government long enough, to make that distinction and any “dirt” that can be thrown, will be largely ignored (Thank you Bill Clinton), and one can see this becoming a two man race, the day after super Tuesday. The individual, who wins South Carolina, will be the front-runner and most likely stay the front runner, becoming the eventual nominee of the party.

Well Matched Idea Mean who Could Move Mountains and Drive the Beltway Pundits, and GOP Central (and the Obama Team)into a tizzy

Cain and or Gingrich will drive the establishment GOP and the Beltway Pundits into a tizzy (yet another reason one might get attached to either one of these candidates. These two in particular, have a quality that allows for both independents and Democrats, and Tea Party and yes, Republican’s without the proverbial stick up their back (those who cast stones as they are so bloody perfect), to enthusiastically cast a vote for either of these men.
A little historical perspective on the Obama administrations sudden upswing: Although small inroads into improvement in the economy can be seen at this point, the same happened during the final morns of 1979 under the Carter administration, then the bottom fell out, inflation rose, and we were dealing with Iran, in a most passive way – (Iranian ships are said to be in or nearing U.S. international waters (or 14 miles off the coast) – Carter’s job approval ratings were much lower than Obama’s are now, however, Obama, with the exception of a few states, has yet to climb over 50%, staying steady in multiple polls as the man who can be beaten. Should inflation continue to rise, and the summer of 2012 be as disparaging as the past three years have been, then without a third party candidate who is pulled out of David Axelrod’s hat, Obama would be unelectable. Cain and both Gingrich (known by those who have heard him speak, but are not political junkies as: the old smart guy), stand much to gain in that scenario.

The only thing that upset this scenario would be if the Republican Party decided, at its convention, to go to the Super Delegate model (those are not delegates per say, but Party loyalist, Senators, Congressmen) – this happened in 2008, when Hillary Clinton clearly had the popular vote, yet, once at the Convection, the Democrats when to the Super Delegate option, threw out the popular vote, and nominated one Barack Obama (stealing a phrase from Cain: Princess Nancy and her daughter cast the last two votes necessary to insure Obama’s candidacy). One would suggest that this type of action on the part of the GOP would, have serious ramifications for the party and for the nation.

On the “Debt Crisis” – Boston Globe Blames Republicans, Reuters decries “Rebel” Tea Party, while Obama, Pelosi and Reid, Still Playing the “Bush Card”

The Original Rebels of 1773 - Tea Party - image from CRWflags.com

The Boston Globemakes no pretence of lack of objectivity in their article on the Debt Ceiling “alleged” crisis (alleged as the date continues to move at the whim of Tim Geithner and the Democrat Controlled House, up to the elections in 2010 either had no budget or blocked any attempts at a reasonable budget under Pelosi and Reid’s watch – 2006 bears repeating). The article begins:

Inflexible House Republicans forced Speaker John Boehner late last night to put off an expected vote on legislation to raise the country’s borrowing limit, dealing a stunning blow to the GOP leader’s authority just days before the country is set to run out of money.

Read that twice. In the real world, Boehner did have a plan that compromised more with President Obama’s plan to spend through the roof, and cuts to the budget were dramatically reduced to billions. The House Republican’s that are considered “Tea Party” are fiscally conservative and were perhaps looking for something with more “Teeth” in it, as regards any chance of getting the debt under control.

The last bill that the House put together (to solve this very same crisis) was rejected by the Democrats in the Senate, not even making it to the floor for a vote! Obama insisted he would veto legislation that called for cuts to the budget, a onetime rise in the debt ceiling, and a start to a balanced budget amendment to the constitution. (Bill Clinton with a Republican Congress led by Newt Gingrich balanced the budget - therefore, it can be done.)The President’s preference is obviously to run without a clear budget, continue to spend, and continue to raise the debt ceiling, which effectively lowers the US dollars worth. Go figure.

The Tea Party, fiscally sane conservatives, want to effect positive change in the way those juvenile delinquents that are currently entrenched in Congress spend other people’s money. It is, in effect, a log-jam.

Obama won’t sign a bill unless it includes limited cuts to spending, while allowing him to raise the debt ceiling enough through 2012 so that he can comfortably get back on the campaign trail.

The Republican’s led by Boehner, are trying desperately to come up with a compromise and have presented several bills, all of which the President refuses to sign if they pass the Congress anyhow.

Tea Party members, see this happening, and figure, they might as well just stand firm and continue to give their constituents full attention, and do exactly what they were sent to Washington to do – stand up against insanity regardless of which Party happens to be involved in the lasted mess.

Reuters, is now calling those members of the Tea Party Caucus Rebels! It is as if those members elected in 2010, because of the financial crisis, sent to Washington to stop the spending, are somehow out of touch with reality. More to the point, they are in touch with their constituents, and it is Washington, the Beltway Pundits and their media cheerleaders, who clearly don’t understand jack (you know what.)

It is the word Rebels, being used by Reuters, which calls to mind the original intent of the Tea Party, and the original Tea Party Rebels of in the year 1773, were also called rebels, and later revolutionaries a point that should not be missed by those who live within the safe confines of Washington Think! It was about taxes then, and it is about taxes now. Overburden the people, and the people “rebel”, It might be predicted that at this point, the more the media maligns the Tea Party, and lays blame, that they are, in effect, creating a notoriety which a good percentage of thinking American’s (and they exist) find appealing.

Meanwhile, the Democrats and their leaders Pelosi, Reid and President Obama, continue to cry “Bush!” as they lay blame for the current conditions on the past. As Bush left office with a crumbling real estate fiasco (caused by whom in Congress? Who controlled Congress in 2006?), and ran with the limited TARP program (which was, incidentally opposed by most Conservatives), he put into effect a stop gap, that should have been enough of a rise in the debt crisis of 2008, to set up a lovely and easy to manage scenario for incoming Obama – had Obama not followed former President Carter’s economic and foreign policy to the letter. Unfortunately, he did, growing government, increasing the payroll for an ever-growing crop of government employees (through the Stimulus), and wondering why the private sector was not hiring? Additional large scale social programs also insured that businesses would be wary of hiring, there was no fix to the housing crisis (see Fanny and Freddy) rather, the administration and Happy Nancy just threw more money at the problem, hoping for a correction. It kept going; one spending project after the next, all without a budget, no budget, not one budget during the entire time the Democrats and President Obama had the reigns of government.

Now, these much maligned “inflexible” and “rebellious” members of Congress, sent by and for the people, are taking heat for doing the job that all Republicans and heck all Democrats should have done, but not unlike a herd of Ostrich, stuck their heads in the sand.
Also, just a note to the media: Globe in particular, although it appears that Boehner did not have the support for yet another bill that he came up with versus, one very shady backroom deal under Reid, which would have been vote now, we’ll let you know what’s it in later (recall the Health Care disaster), and they call is position “weakened”. Give us the proverbial break. Recall the deals, begging, pleading, midnight votes and calls to the White House to those poor “Blue Dog” Democrats who finally jumped on the Obama Health Care vote, a midnight vote to nowhere. It was not as if they had control, they had a plan (that no one could read), they wanted it done, and they held Congress in chains, until the vote passed, on straight party lines. The Democrats have their divisions, which are rarely spoken of in the media, their Progressive arm (i.e. Socialists who have taken control of the party) and the “moderate democrat” – who looks more like John McCain every day –or vice versa.

It is refreshing to see debate, and it is refreshing that some of those sent to Congress have a clue, it is refreshing that, although, yet another crisis looms (see Obama under Boy Cries Wolf), that some members, regardless of being called names, are standing up to principal, while, Beltway Republican’s attempt to play nice with Obama, and Obama pouts and refuses to move away from his Progressive roots, thinking there is no way out but tax increases across the board, and a continued rise in the nation’s debt ceiling.
If one thought that 1793 was a bad year for Progressives, as was 2010, just wait. The majority of Tea Party Members are not, repeat, not Republican’s (although they vote with them and run as Republicans due to the allege fiscal conservatism that party represents), but Independents and, get this, Democrats, as well as some disenfranchised Republicans. Rebels yes, a Revolution yes, at the ballot box in 2012, which, if this continues to be a pre-school scenario (or high school, hard to tell the difference and with the decline in education in the nation, between a 3year olds knowledge and that of one about to graduate high school, and God Help us! vote!!!) of Congress and the White House, it will be a rout across the board. It is not, therefore, unthinkable, that a third party candidate, would put themselves forth, should the Republican party nominate one more McCain like Republican (one who wants to be a conservative, while assuaging every Democrat they meet, and of course, retain their popularity with the press.)

Therefore, when the sky doesn’t’ fall on the 2nd of August, and the Wolf never arrives at the door, and yet another plan is proposed in Congress, which will be vetoed by Progressive of the Year, President Obama, life, will go on – The blame for all of this lies with those in Washington despite acting like a bunch of 17 year old girls (and any parent with a 17 year old girl understands what that means), even despite Party, being unable to get their act together. It is the job of Congress to take charge of the nations purse strings (See U.S. Constitution), it is the Presidents job to create a budget (which he has consistently failed to do, since the Brilliant Obama took office), and it is the peoples job to vote.

Does it really matter if the only checks being cut in Washington got to Social Security, and Medicare? Does it really matter if the Parks department, the EPA, the TSA cannot pay their employees? Will the people miss the pat down and lack of profiling done unless one is an aging grandmother or 4 year old boy? One might call this naive, however, with the focus on one’s own declining revenue of what little paycheck is left for those working in the private sector, focus on Obama’s difficulties in getting another rise in the debt ceiling and Boehner’s’ inability to control members of Congress who are, literally, more Republican than those incumbents who sit in that August body. The personal pocketbook, or lack thereof, will place the blame where it belongs – and that will be on those who were supposed to have gotten “the message” but refused to listen. In other words, the Tea Party has a point, and as one of those who is sick of Party politics as usual, and looking at the Unenrolled status as a badge of pride, it is only disgust one must feel, for the continued one-sidedness of the media, and the same old crap coming out of DC for the past eight plus years.

Democrat Theory of Politically Taxing U.S. Oil Companies to Reduce Deficit Increase Election Chances – Proven - Result Carteresque Backfire – Shortage

In 1979 President Jimmy Carter had a deficit problem, high unemployment, inflation on the rise, and a “misery index”. The solution: tax big oil with a “Windfall Profit Tax” on oil companies. It rang true with those few who felt Carter was, at the time, the best President since George Washington, however, the end result was a disaster for the general public. Although oil profits appeared obscene, the end result was, at the time, exploration and production. The “Windfall Profit Tax” resulted in – less production and long lines at the pump (See “Emergency Fuel Supplies Rushed to South Florida”, Sarasota Herald Tribune, June 30, 1980) The concept of gas lines from 1979 through the 1980’s was a direct result of the assault on U.S. oil companies by the Carter Administration and a like-minded Congress. Those Windfall profits for the U.S. Government put the U.S. household in a huge bind, as gas prices climbed, and those that could, turned to public transportation in areas where it existed. For those areas that did not have public transportation that was adequate, walking and taking ones bike to work, to the grocer, anywhere was the only option. It was, in a word, not just a tax on the oil companies by an administration that had depleted the nations coffers, but a hardship on the entire U.S. population.

They're at it again. The grilling of oil company executives is now taking place on Capitol Hill. An article from the Canadian Globe and Mail, hits it spot on - ”Big Oil Hearings Great Political Theatre”. However, the unintended consequences of those Democrats trying to pin the nation’s economic woes on Big Oil, in an attempt to, again, use any tax revenues gained to pay down the deficit, instead of cutting programs, will be less gas to get to where the average American is going – like work if they have a job. It isn’t necessarily the high price of gas, which includes a chunk of change in taxes at the pump for the Feds (which is incentive enough to not actually do much about the situation other than hold hearings and point fingers at Big Oil), it is the fact that without the ability of the U.S. Oil companies to compete on a global scale, and extract oil to refine, that will result, again, in a Carter flashback. Even the mention of a tax, or end of tax breaks in this case, (post Carter), could result in speculators betting on a reduction in oil supply, causing the prices to – rise.

There have been some changes in the nation and federal government since Carter’s days. Not for nothing, but the population has increased, more cars, even those that are fuel efficient, are on the road and the government is financially vested in auto dealers, and their union, the United Auto Workers – all of whom will suffer. Without available fuel, there is no need or even ability to drive one’s car, and no need to buy a new one,(even GE's plug in's such as Chevy's Volt (GM) priced at a "modest" $32,800 without frills, is not an option for most Americans) prices on food and staples also rise (in a period where food is now subject to inflation) – will surely leave the general public doing without even more.

There are, of course, solutions, but those solutions are not acceptable to certain groups – such as drilling offshore, or on shore for that matter – it doesn’t sit right with the current administrations ideology – better to find a scapegoat – look like one is doing something for the American People, and keep on campaigning without a clue.

Which is what Carter did and the end result was the “Reagan Revolution.” Although one may tend to disagree ideologically with the current administration, one must beg that someone hand the current resident of the White House a history book or even news clippings of the Carter era before it is too late for the lower and middle class Americans who are already suffering enough. Of course, the probable end result will be a new administration, (which, although some consider the President in a good position for reelection now, his approval rankings, do not add up to a second term, under any circumstances), a repeal of any taxes, additional incentives given to the oil companies, short term taxes on, you guessed it, the American public, and then a road to prosperity. A word to all who intend to vote in the next general election, insure that one’s choice of a candidate has at least a modicum of understanding even recent U.S. History and economics - what has worked and what has failed miserably.
