Remembrances of September 11, 2001 – Personal Reflections
On that sunny, September morning, I was on my way to a history period, when I glanced at the Television in the hallway at college, and noted a second plane going into the World Trade Center – I called my husband, who was at a nearby AFRB, and asked if this was of concern, he indicated that I should get my daughter from her school and go home. I went to class, and my professor asked what was happening. I told him of my husband’s directive and he immediately dismissed the class.
I went to the parochial school where our daughter was enrolled and was walking with many parents who had much the same mind as I. The principal suggested that instead of instilling fear our children, to go and pray in teh chapel, which is what we did, until they were dismissed. At that point, I took my child home, sat in front of the television and wept.
It was not weeping from fear, it was weeping from a sense of loss and grief that we were now in much the same circumstances as the nation of Israel. At that moment the anger surfaced and it was palpable, followed by such a love of the nation that had allowed my family to be here and safe, to better themselves, that we, a nation of such outstanding charity towards others, should be so attacked.
Having studied a great deal on the caliphate which devastated Europe, and the plan that has been in place since the General Mohamed turned his varied tribes into a force, through the institution of a faith – to expand his empire beyond the Bedouin borders. It was a brilliant strategy for the time, however, to see it resurface again and again, throughout history, and to bring it tour nation, was beyond the pale.
That our country, a haven from those who would force others to have one state religion, to have freedom to live life to the fullest, while sisters in those nations were subjugated to the most insidious of dogmas, instilled a sense of great national pride.
Therefore, when recalling the events of that day, that brought untold millions of American’s from all stripes together, it was the beginning of a new era, one where we would be vigilant, and as individuals, do anything possible to protect our nation, the nation that gives us life, liberty and the right to pursue happiness, any religion we please and to prosper. Incidentally concepts alien to those who would do us harm. If ISIS or ISIL is the same type of group –it goes without saying, that individual American’s would find the courage and fortitude to destroy them, and would support any measures to do so.

Obama Gets Osama – Bin Laden Rumored to have been Buried at Sea
From Real Clear Politics: last evening, President Obama made a televised statement that he had given the order to kill Osama Bin Laden. In the Statement, delivered at approximately 11:30 Eastern, the President told the American People and the word that the infamous mastermind behind so many attacks on the U.S., specifically the attack on our nation on September 11th, had been killed in by U.S. forces in Pakistan. It was a joint venture between the Pakistani and U.S. Government. Immediately following the announcement crowds gathered in celebration accross the nation. It has been reported that the President first called Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, prior to the announcement. Bush offered a written statement:
President Obama spoke briefly and to the point, (after the news media (FOX, CNN, etc.) had broken the story at approx. 10:45), (paraphrasing) “Justice has been done”.
Points to Obama for having the wherewithal and guts to pull the trigger; the search for Osama Bin Laden spanned a decade, and could have, ended differently, with a capture and release which had happened in the past. Obama is to be applauded for taking the initiative on behalf of the United States.
Campaigns, partisan leanings, the economy and disagreements on policy aside, one must give credit where credit is due – Obama kept his eye on the prize, and successfully gave the orders to complete a mission, a decade after the attacks on U.S. soil.
It has also been reported that Osama bin Laden was buried at sea, as no country would want him enshrined within their boundaries, this was carried out by the United States.
A clear message was delivered on Sunday May 1, 2011: “Don’t Tread on Me”.
Former President George W. Bush, who was in office on the day of the attacks, issued a written statement hailing bin Laden's death as a momentous achievement. "The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done," he said. “

Lest We Forget - September 11, 2001
As the years pass, memories fade, hearts and minds heal, and America, once again, becomes complacent. It is with this in mind, that it behooves all citizens of this great nation, to take a moment and remember that we are not infallible, nor are our borders secured, and the change we all hope for, in regards to peace within and without our borders is fragile at best. With this in mind, a moment of silence, a prayer, to remember those who lost their lives, innocent women, children and men who were merely going to work, and those who risked and lost their lives to save them. It should also be noted, that the City of New York, represented, historically, the Capitol of our Great Nation. The video below depicts news coverage of the days events.

The Press Turns a Blind Eye - Lest We Forget – September 11, 2001
On September 11, 2001, our great nation experienced the unthinkable - a vicious attack on both our first capital, New York City as well as our present – Washington DC. Today, a mere 7 years later, there is little or no mention or memorial from a media obsessed with winning an election – something which our founding fathers agonized over when initially granting freedom of the press lo those many years ago – (Reference: The Federalist Papers #84 “From the Federalist Papers: #8, Hamilton
"I go further and affirm that bills of rights, in the sense and to the extent in which they are contended for, are not only unnecessary in the proposed Constitution but would even be dangerous. They would contain various exceptions to powers which are not granted; and, on this very account, would afford a colorable pretext to claim more than we granted. Fro why declare that things shall not be done which there is no power to do Why for instance, should it be said that the liberty of the press shallot be retrained, when no power is given by which restrictions may be imposed? I will not contend that such a provision would confer a regulating power, but it is evident that it would furnish, to men disposed to usurp, a plausible pretense for claiming that power.")
Regardless of the politics of the day, or party, ethnicity or gender – it behooves us to remember,(and yes, even pray to God), that all American’s lives were touched on 11-September-2001, lest we forget and find ourselves overly complacent in a world that harbors and fosters individuals and nations who would visit our country with unjustified violence in order to further a twisted politically motivated religion.
Addendum: Apparrently I am up well before the natioanl media updates their on-line editions. Kudo's to those that have taken the time to remember this date. Local editions are still woeful in their coverage: example Springfield, MA Republican

Guantanamo Decision – The Massachusetts Factor

Courtesy of Logan Airport
Presidential candidates Barrack Obama and John McCain hold differing viewpoints regarding the Supreme Court decision to allow enemy combatants currently held at Guantanamo access to mainland US Civilian courts. McCain agrees with the dissenting opinion of Chief Justice Roberts, while Obama tied the decision to the political. McCain feels that the military tribunal system was more than generous, while Obama commented on the decision as a defeat to the Bush administration. One should understand that McCain may know a thing or two more about being detained against ones will than Barrack Obama, the fact that the later lacks experience outside of the ability to spew rhetoric was evidenced by his response to the ruling. New York Times
Meanwhile, Boston attorney’s are celebrating as the Bay State, home to Logan Airport, scene of the 9/11 crime, brought the suit in the first place. Boston Globe - Boston attorneys on the Guantanamo verdict
the decision can be read in total here. Boumediene (Boston Attorney) vs. Bush, President of the United States (politically motivated?). It is worth noting that all press articles have offered “excerpts” of the text – therefore, suggesting one take the time and trouble to read in entirety as its implications are broad and not specifically in the best interest of the nation. In essence, this allows the detainees (as they are referred) the right of Habeas Corpus under the U.S. Constitution, with all the rights and privileges given to citizens.
They will be allowed to bring their case to civilian court and the decision does not restrict or direct where the detainees will be held pending a US court case. This decision also allows for full treatment, including the setting of bail and release pending trial - into the general population.
McCain may be characterized as “old”; however, one can bet the house that older is wiser in this instance. In essence, Obama is as much of an idiot as John Kerry (the beloved MA senator where in recent poll, shows that only 37% of the state electorate would see him reelected Boston Herald ). Kerry, also applauding the decision is being considered as a running mate for the young and equally experienced Barrack Obama.
Of course, one has to look at where most of these detainees, once released, would be tried. Where else? The State that is the new Mecca for Level 2 and 3 child molesters nationwide is the perfect place for terrorists to set up camp and await trail. They’ve found Boston to be accommodating in the past (the date: September 11, 2001) – their law firm is located in Boston, and of course, the Governor, a close friend and speech-sharing buddy of Barack, would be able to lay out the welcome matt.
One can only hope however, that should these detainees be tried and found guilty of any crime (considering this is Massachusetts), they would spend time at a facility such as Walpole. In a word: Karma.
