The TSA Nightmare - Government Conspiracy or Just Plain Stupidity?

TSA Agents inspect 2 year old suspected "terrorist" at U.S. airport screening - How bright are these Govenrment Union Employees? Image MyFoxAltanta

A good deal of debate has been taking shape regarding the new regulations for flying in the United States , from the intrusive “pat downs”, to full-blown body x-rays, the premise of some “pundits” is that a “big government conspiracy” is afoot. Seriously, crediting Homeland Security with the wherewithal of “controlling the American Citizen” is a stretch. Crediting them with following orders to control the populace is also a stretch – they have, however, created chaos – media chaos. With a never ending parade of articles on intrusive and ridiculous searches, not one article deals with the union aspect of the TSA who are under the umbrella of National Treasury Employees Union who have been in a contest of sorts for the union dues of potential TSA union members with the SEIU. Therefore, the situation one has is simple – union thugs (previously known as government workers), are attempting to follow guidelines from the TSA for screening, with union “thug” mentality added to the already entrenched “world owes me a living” union credo. In addition, the unions are telling their employees not to worry about lawsuits, as a Federal employee is not liable and the DOJ will step in and save them. Will the average TSA employee even understand the new guidelines? Doubtful, as the criteria established for hires is less stringent that one’s local grocery store.

Therefore, one has the Homeland Security brain trust of Janet Napolitano who is, kindly put, out of her depth, working with barely educated union thugs to secure our airplanes – Conspiracy – no, stupidity yes.

What U.S. Citizens have come to expect from most Union/Government entities in the past two years is a level of unparalled incompetence that, to date, has no equal. Perhaps it was the Progressive aim of “dumbing" down the American Education system that now has average American grandmothers, being sexually molested at airports nationwide – in simple form – the individuals employed by the TSA do not know better – neither does their boss. Janet is too busy being politically correct. The only way to keep the U.S. Flights safe, is not to pat down the nun, the grandmother, the American soldiers returning from Afghanistan (just Google for article after article), it is to “profile” those individuals trying to board a plane that have a propensity and background for blowing up Americans. One can bet the house that these TSA mental giants are not inspecting every piece of cargo placed in the hold, and with that in mind, the entire x-ray, pat-down process is truly moot – they just don’t’ get it. Perhaps it’s not politically correct to search a package that may say be coming from Yemen bound for Detroit, profiling – the dirty words of the politically correct, but a process that works.

Why not profile swarthy men with their heads wrapped in Wal-Mart kitchen toweled, carrying overloaded backpacks - that would imply one would have to single out a specific group, which is a no-no, which is why, U.S. passengers are facing this insanity and subsequent delays, body cavity searches, et al. When a terrorist does attempt to get through security – they will have to go through this very same procedure, costing the U.S. more money, but a better chance at catching the “terrorist” if “everyone has to go through the same procedure. Of course, Muslim groups have already protested, however, so far, with no luck . The obvious solution to this whole intrusive issue is to simply not fly. Take a plane, train, bus – avoid the airlines like the plague. The object of course, is to force the lobbyist employed by the airlines to go to work in a hurry – the industry can hardly survive without its passengers, and, incidentally, there would be layoffs galore at the TSA. It’s a win-win situation. When one must battle stupidity, then one must face some inconveniences.

The True Inconvenient Truth is that our government is run by individuals we would not trust to wash our cars, and as their very salaries, bloated pensions and super benefits are all dependent upon the taxpayer’s largesse, then, deciding to for go’s the nonsense at the airport, would of course, demand a change of heart. There is, after all, “Go To Meeting, and a host of programs which make traveling moot. For those of you who have no desire to skip the flight, have some fun with those who are about to “violate” your body – request a pat-down, turn the tables, and ask the TSA idiot to please put his hands down your pants, as you’ve been planning a trip just to meet him or her, and then tip them a buck.

Swine Flu Emergency - Obama Plays Golf - Napolitano – In Over Her Head – Passive Approach At Border!

Nervous Gibbs and Napolitano Announce Health Emergency -image: Fox

Although the official statement from the White House is that a lack of personnel in key positions regarding Health and Human Services in not an issue, leaving Janet Napolitano in charge of the current swine flu emergency may have a downside. Current posts vacant are Surgeon General, Secretary of Human Services and a Director for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sibelius, has faced difficulties in confirmation as Secretary of Human Services due to myriad problems, specifically, tax related issues regarding donations up to $40,000, received and not reported by Ms. Sibelius. With Napolitano in charge, the White House feels confident that Sibelius will be confirmed by this Tuesday.

The administration declared a Public Health Emergency this weekend, yet steps to reduce the chance of cross-border infections under Napolitano’s direction, have been lacking to say the least.
From the Associated Press:

U.S. officials will begin asking travelers about illness if they're entering the country from areas with confirmed swine flu.
Passengers won't be barred from getting into the United States. But they could be referred for further testing.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano characterized the step as more "passive surveillance," saying airline workers certainly could tell people they shouldn't fly if ill.

Napolitano has recently been criticized for her lack of understanding regarding U.S. borders, specifically the the Northern border. As such, the President should have been giving this press conference, understanding that confidence in Napolitano from both the public and our allies to the North is low.

That said, the Press and the Blogosphere have been asking where the President is during this crisis – the answer: golfing. Rumors regarding Obama’s health are rife, on his recent trip to Mexico he shook hands with a gentleman who later died “flu-like” symptoms. The fact that mortality for this particular strain of flu appears to strike those between the ages of 25 and 45 has given fuel to this speculation.

One would think that like his predecessor, George W. Bush, Obama would have himself lead the Press Conference in an attempt to allay the fears of the general public. However, he chose a different approach, the outcome of which may further damage his political image.

Oh Canada! Understanding Janet Napolitano – An Agent of Change – Apologies from Massachusetts

Napalitano does Canada - image : Canada Post

Canadian’s are a bit perplexed over comments made by Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano and the Canadian’s role in the 9/11 terrorists attacks. In newspapers across Canada the horror and confusion regarding the appointment of Ms. Napolitano is hitting headlines, and American’s are posting to sites apologizing for the administration’s choice of a less than qualified individual to head one of the country’s vital bureaucracies.

From the National Post: “The border for dummies”, the Post covers the basics of Ms. Napolitano’s ignorance regarding where terrorists entered the United States before 9-11, and goes on to question what exactly she meant when backtracking after being told she made a blunder and came out with this gem:
“Informed of her error, Ms. Napolitano blustered: "I can't talk to that. I can talk about the future. And here's the future. The future is we have borders."

One has to be proud, as an American, that Ms. Napolitano understands that there even are borders, considering that the manner in which this administration is handling everything from the economy to foreign policy is questionable to say the least.
However, her continued stunning ignorance is eroding what is left of any respect someone who is living in still living in a commune in either San Francisco or Chicago might hold for the poor woman.

From the CBC:
“Canada more lax than U.S. about whom it lets in, Napolitano says” – enough said.

US-Candian Border - Fedex.com

Anyone with the intelligence of a prune understands that there is a vast difference between Canada’s immigration policy and that of the United States, specifically when it comes to whom it lets in and whom it does not: For example from the Hills of Vermont to the rugged North Dakota Mountains, hoards of Canadian’s are not risking life and limb to break into the United States – there are no Canadian drug gangs shooting up the towns along the border – Canada is not Mexico, and border security, getting and out of Canada at least – is tight.

Every so often, a trip into the beautiful province of Quebec is called for, and an easy ride through the Green Mountain State of Vermont, when one reaches the border, the wait to cross is not overly long, the questions, thorough, and the border guards welcoming, proud of their country. Leaving Canada, one is subjected to a more thorough investigation to include a trunk search (in the event of any non-duty free shopping). What one notices most however, is that almost all of the vehicles entering or exiting the United States, contain American’s – with passports (and prior to the need to have a passport: two forms of identification.)

The problem: Ms. Napolitano has most likely never crossed the Canadian border (and in future, that might not be an option, given the opinion Canadian’s now hold of said Secretary of Homeland Security), and therefore, has no idea of what it is like, so she assumed it was just like Mexico, a border with which she is acquainted. Ms. Napolitano arrived in Washington via Arizona, where she held the Governor’s office (cheering Arizonans could be heard as far away as Utah), where Mexican’s, and all individuals from all types of country’s (except Canada) enter freely.
As Governor, Ms. Napolitano “hoped” that the violence caused by the drugs, smuggling and such, was “an anomaly”. The article, from the New York Times, concluded:

“There is an ongoing relationship that happens even in the midst of an immigration meltdown,” Ms. Napolitano said. “I think it’s reflective of the fact borders don’t need to be — how do I say this? — that there are challenges but also opportunities.”

The word Ms. Napolitano was at a lack for in reference to Mexico was “open” – a word she would have been wise to apply to our neighbor to the north, where American’s benefit from the legal trade between two nations.

By way of explanation to our Canadian friends, Ms. Napolitano’s experience has been confined to a previously under populated State on the U.S. Mexican border, she arrived at her current position in the capacity of “crony”, meaning that she was given the post due to an established relationship with either Obama and or the DNC (most likely for championing Open Borders, otherwise known as one of the DNC’s “Get out the Vote” drives.).

Take heart, Canada, only 34% of American’s, according to Rasmussen polls, now “strongly approve” of the President’s job performance and 3 years will go by like a blink of an eye – rest assured, as American’s did when they found Carter to be a complete boob, a sensible Citizen of the United States will, once again, be called upon to repair the damage done under yet another clueless administration. Therefore, when a United States Citizen is in your country visiting, please take a moment and give them your sympathy. We will spend the next 3 years constantly worried about our own safety, while battling a severe recession, being taxed to the limit, and apologizing for the constant blunders of our government.
